Pro rats holiday entitlement

Hi there I started work for rm on November 28 th 2011 .I am on a 25 hr contract 5 days a week. In my contract it states that annual leave starts on 1st April - 31st march. It states that I get 4weeks 2.5 days annual leave and also all bank holidays.my leave is on pro rata, so how much leave will l have up until 31st march 2012? I know I am new but do not want to loose any leave I am entitled to . Can you please inform me?

You should receive one week and 3 days up to the end of March.

4 months service = 1/3 of a year, therefore 1/3 of the yearly holidays. 4 weeks and 2.5 days = 22.5 days. 1/3 of that = 7 days + 1.5 days = 8 days with 0.5 days carried over to next year. Next year you should have 4 weeks and 3 days, the following year it will be back to 4 weeks and 2.5 days.
