1. should/can, spares/reserves get a rotating day off?
2.If we cant get rotating day off ,are our terms and conditions different than a regular OPG who has signed for a job?
3.if a person that has signed for a job is moved to a different walk why do they not lose their rotating day?
4.can rotating days been changed at short notice ,in the same manner that spares/reserves are often given 48 hours notice of their day off.?
finally when there is a bank holiday Monday ,my day off is always a Monday, strange but true!

Re: days off-spares and reserves
If your day off is on a bank hoilday then you must be give back a day.gmax442 wrote:1. should/can, spares/reserves get a rotating day off? In my office days off are attched to the duty so spares have to have the day off for the duty they are covering. if they are covering more than one duty then the managers must state what day off you have got the week before.
2.If we cant get rotating day off ,are our terms and conditions different than a regular OPG who has signed for a job? your terms and conditions are different. But they shouldn't be
3.if a person that has signed for a job is moved to a different walk why do they not lose their rotating day? In my office they would have to change their day off to the one attached to the walk.
4.can rotating days been changed at short notice ,in the same manner that spares/reserves are often given 48 hours notice of their day off.? No managers can ask you to change your day off but can't make you
finally when there is a bank holiday Monday ,my day off is always a Monday, strange but true!
Hope this helps you

Re: days off-spares and reserves
As a reserve postie during the year 2011 I have only had two Saturdays as allocated days off. One of those I specifically requested(the grief it caused was akin to a request to sleep with the line managers wife). So in summary only one Saturday in 52 and zero long weekends. Thanks to a very weak union and a chocolate tea-pot style rep I have little choice but to find another job or give up on my football team. No wonder we are called floaters.

Near enough impossible to get a rolling day of because of the duties they cover.See 5 as well.
2.If we cant get rotating day off ,are our terms and conditions different than a regular OPG who has signed for a job?
Reserves all over seem to be discriminated against with days off because of lazy reps, managers and fixed duty holders who don't care.
3.if a person that has signed for a job is moved to a different walk why do they not lose their rotating day?
Why should they? Lots plan lots of things around their days off,it is right they should keep them.Usually it's the other way round, your office is lucky.
4.can rotating days been changed at short notice ,in the same manner that spares/reserves are often given 48 hours notice of their day off.?
Should be no on both counts,no one should be fecked around willy nilly when days off have been allocated.
5.finally when there is a bank holiday Monday ,my day off is always a Monday, strange but true!
Your day off should be the day off of the duty holder you are covering, lazy reps, managers and fixed duty holders who don't care syndrome again.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
