Astonishing,absolutely astonishing.

Post by Spartacus »

Thought I'd seen and heard most things from Royal Mail in the 15 years I've worked for them, but this has got to be the most inept and stupid thing I've seen.

A North Wales delivery office.

Postie gets accused of dumping mail in wheelie bin, fact finding leads to suspension of said postie.

Now that's all well and good and grist to the mill to workforce and management alike, sh*t like that happens we're all used to it.

Royal Mail then realise that the suspension is leaving them short staffed (even more so than usual) and ask the suspended postie to resume his duty(which he does), informing him that he's still technically under suspension.

So the accused postie may have commited an offence that warrants a suspension and probable dismissal and is entrusted with delivering the mail to the same delivery points where the original mail was found.

If this lad is dismissed I'd absolutely love to be at any employment tribunal that would arise, how can Royal Mail possibly sack this guy now?

thats shocking but not surprising. They will struggle to sack them and fair even worse at a tribunal. The whole basis for dismissing a thief is that there has been a breakdown of trust. If they then let them work how can they say the trust has gone?

Useless!

how about this for astonishing. today on my round i chanced upon our suspended reps husband. (he broke her car and was getting a new part for it.) he enlightened me on why she had turned up for work when she also is on suspension. The official letter had run out so she reported to work. however the screw of which one i am not sure sent her a text telling her she was still suspended!!!! can you believe it  i suppose she can only hope to be sacked by letter rather than text. As her husband said great for a communication company.
floating postie.

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL AND HAVE FAITH
It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.
