There have been 38 delivery method revisons in the Thames Valley area , some have work , some intially failed and have been put right and some are still failing. I'm a bit confused...
Is gross year on year improvement hours being invested or savings being taken out?

When I look at those F/T - P/T ratios I actually want to cry.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Why would a union document list business savings as an improvement?

I agree Fish, it does seem strange when the BT2010 was not about saving but delivering revisions that would modernise the business to make it fit for purpose. It is now plainly obvious that this is not the case. If the criteria for an office actually working is based on whether there is a large enough saving and meeting the regulators delivery specifications, and it,s sickness record, but does not take into account the stresses that are being put on the delivery staff or whether the business is providing the opportunities for bettering pay as stated in the Pay & Modernisation/BT2010 agreements, then stating that these areas are working may be a slight exaggeration of the true picture.

Well it makes interesting reading IF you happen to be in Thames Valley, however do those figures translate nationally, particularly the FT/PT figures which are impressive. Ours was about 62/38 prior to the revisions and is now 50/50 and some of those FTs are temporary. Dingo posts factual matters pertaining to where he is when what is required is the CWU to post figures pertaining to the national state of affairs. As for savings :hmmmm was that part of BT 2010; not that I read in any of those early "leaks" nor in the final draft, in fact it was quite to the contrary but our indoor revision was put off because there was insufficient savings, so someone is telling porkys.

our ft/pt ratio in ayrshire is also shocking wont be long before pt have majority vote in any decisions to be made very worrying that.
the only pt staff made up were wsm staff
no pt on delivery made up
it would seem to be the streets are paved with gold in some areas

For the record this is a Royal Mail document based on information the CWU requested. I think we can all state with some cartain that there is lots of hersey and rumours about what is going on but very little fact on either side of the debate.

This shows that in Thames Valley a number of revisions are now saving money and have high quality of service , whereas quite a few especially the ones which have recently been introduced are failing in terms of either quality or cost or both .

Now in terms of the ratio of full time and part time the fact is Scotland , The North East have always had a higher ratio of part timers going back to when there was two deliveries.

Like I said there is no agenda but sometimes it helpful to see some real figures some of which further work is being down to ensure its correct .

Thanks for the info. I always read it with interest and much appreciate the insight.

A quick question (or more your opinion)

Why are there are so many revision failures (I think I know the answer).

I think what I am asking is what is the CWU view of these failures and the state of the revisions.

We are due our revision next March

Having been to some of the offices listed as working, I certainly don't think the staff there would consider their revision to be 'working', even if it is delivering savings. Stroud DO is on that list as a successful revision but is on this forums list of failing revisions :hmmmm

Well although I was a bit sceptical before, now that I know the figures are Royal Mails and not produced by the CWU, then there are a number of queries the CWU should be making of RM,not least of all like where are the figures for the rest of the country, which only then makes the statistic of any value because this is supposed to be a national union.

So the thread title should really have read Thames Valley Delivery Method revision facts as presented to the CWU by Royal Mail but as yet unverified by the CWU as actually being facts.
Have we gathered any information ourselves from the troops on the ground as to whether these revisions are successful?....and i don't mean in terms of savings which should be the last thing we use to judge success.

You would have thought that the later revisions would have built on the lessons learnt from earlier revisions and would have been more "efficient".
If you are saying the reverse is true it suggests that someone has changed something in the revision process.
Who, what and why?
