Customers just seeking out xmas compesatian payout

Just wondering what yous folk think of this?Although xmas is near,do you,like me notice that customers coming out to you saying that cards,money,presents etc.... have been not recieved etc....or do you think most are really at it?
The past Week i challenged two of them on the issue:
1 woman in a stair says two large parcels missing from under her doormat.Yet gave me a ery good description of them
2 Another today tells me that i have been sending all her mail back,oh and not least she has not recieved Birthday cards,playstatian games,expensive clothing,chequesetc.....
Then again,they just need to phone up and be believed and get a compesatian,whilst we innocent posties made to look the baddies
For the record,i'm starting my own mail monitor on those two leading up to xmas,just to cover my ass

i would be asking her how the supposed thief get get inside the customers house in the first place to get the large parcels?

Always amazes me how cheques get stolen... I mean, what are the chances of opening someone else's mail and finding a cheque with your name on inside, eh?

It was in a block of flats.I knew she was at it from the off,as i deliver the larger packets from my van.If no answer then they return to van.Simples Also i do remember who i deliver or attempt to anyway and i don't recall she was one

Teefertiger you know that and i know that mate.The relevent customer,i believe just added every important things as possible to make it look bad.Most people on the forum will have come across this many times.Still i wish they tell the truth instead of getting there own posties into trouble for no reason.

And it's always a "very important letter" that's gone missing.
Trouble now with P&L is that you don't always know what your partner is throwing into the sorting frame. For example couple of months ago I'm on a loop off the walk partner has thrown out and classed up, I had a b/day card and the envelope was in a terrible state so I'm thinking what do I do, deliver it or take it back to office pop it in a damaged bag and deliver it next day, I chose to pop it through. I knew the ppl this card was for, and I know they're not to be trusted, and sure enough she comes and finds me "Postie there was some money in this card who do I call"
Fortunately never heard another thing about it

hmm difficult one this. I've had a couple of packets go missing. Never would have asked the postie about them tho. First one was quite a large one so would have been the van driver. Called the office and got them to check just in case. Thought it was probably a scamming ebayer. 2nd one was a small recorded packet, with a mobile in it, chances are that some bugger has their hands on it. Unfortunately, the sender chose recorded instead of SD so will probably lose out on that one. So, it's the sender that loses out in these cases not RM.

Also been waiting for months for a medical for IIB, low and behold it turns up today with a week's notice to get to the medical centre, so while some may jump the gun and claim that things are missing, I'm guessing they just haven't been sent out.

I guess all you can do is give them CS number, let them complain and start as many investigations as they want, as long as you know you're doing the job correctly, then there's nothing for you to worry about.

I was challenged twice not long ago about missing birthday cards sent by close relatives, but both were sorted out within a week, one delayed with the wrong postcode district, the other delayed with being surcharged for insufficient postage.
If being so challenged is a regular occurance though maybe there's too many dishonest residents thereabouts or the postman invites suspicion for whatever reason. Best keep your own mail monitor though.

i always give them a 739 card and say speak to my manager never usually hear anything after that,plus i know i have nothing to hide anyway.

used to get a customer that put not known at this address on the bills and stuff they didnt want - soon stopped it - out they come - wheres our giro ?
oh ! i thought you moved all the addressed mail to you has been getting returned -oops !! sorry i sent it back
