REP
To: DOM RE: Office Issues

Dear Manager,

There are some issues with ********* PDO in which is quite clear there is not a way to sort out apart from the agreed IR framework. These are the issues under stage one:

Leave

Although you insist you are consistent with allocation, the staff are saying that this is not the case. If the leave should go over the threshold then the extra leave should be agreed for your resource meetings with REP to be agreed. However it should be two weeks’ notice.

Hospital Appointments

We have a couple of members of staff who have had trouble booking hospital appointments of late. Their symptoms are quite dangerous. However “making up their time” is simply a way of saying you can’t have the time. How life threatening symptoms and the need to have their health checked would be of someone’s choice is beyond me, (or anyone else’s way of thinking). In fact one of the people mentioned are willing to have their pay docked.

Rehabs

If ATOS state a rehab program and Royal Mail do have a policy on “getting people back to work”, why has that changed? We have had several cases this year in which individuals have been sent home. One case actually went into financial hardship. Although you have to stick to budget, it is conflicting with your responsibility to “people”? Perhaps it is not you but your bosses?

Absorptions

This issue is not what the national agreement states. I understand REP has given you a copy of this. Can I clarify that Christmas leave is available, (all year round)? If not can I ask why we are absorbing? The absorption should be for extra leave only? Although REP has always mentioned this in the resource meetings he has also mentioned that there is an element of the office that cannot. I have attended a recent committee meeting and the vote was for absorptions who can and not bullying people. REP has mentioned this many times to previous managers, and it is this that in which is making this issue a unilateral disagreement and I will be passing this up.

The list I have given here is what we regard as important and not an, (un agreed it appears), revision process. I have seen and attended a work time learning called “The Big Picture”? It talks about “talking to people” and “engaging”? Group discussions etc? CWU involvement?

Why is this way of working only when you want a revision and not the day to day things that we want?

REP is available all next week participate in the stage one’s? As for the unilateral disagreement I have copied the divisional reps and the relevant senior managers?

Yours Sincerely

REP
