£100 Christmas "bonus"

Now this as been £100 for as long as i've been employed.Does anyone know the first year it was paid,and how much it is now worth in "real terms" when you factor in all the inflation rises since then?

The Christmas bunus is actually an old bonus scheme called IWM.
Up until 2001-2-ish(not sure) it varied between £40 something and a max of £100 depending on where you worked.
It's all a bit vague in my head now.
To give you an idea on value in 2000 it was around 45% of your weekly pay...now it's about 25%.

I got over £400 in 1988 as a Xmas bonus before they took away IWM.

In 1988 we got no bonus because we were a small office (40). We did'nt have the volumn of mail coming though like bigger offices. We did get some seeds though....lettuce, really handy living in a 2nd floor flat

We are only a small office but that's what we got it had nothing to do with the volume of mail but how many hours you gave up the seed's came a few years later we collected what we got, and gave them to an old people's home at least someone got some enjoyment out of them (I hope)

Ah yes the infamous seed episode.
Suttons had a load of out of date stuff to get rid of
I was 22 at the time and was given Aster flower seeds WTF would I want that for!
I thought it was a friggen joke!

Manager threw in a casual one liner this morning........"We may not even be getting a Bonus this Christmas...", we were discussing the Temporary Making Up of PTers to FT...and would they get the Full £100.

Is the Christmas Bonus written into any of our agreements or can RM "Plead Poverty" and get away with not paying it?

Last couple of years the DIM has "Forgotten" to put in the proper paperwork and our PTers only got the £50, despite doing the hours! What an Asshole!

Anyone remember the Christmas Hampers AND a Bonus payment plus Stamps....................
They were the days when RM liked the staff & thanked us for the hard work through the year..........now we get a little bonus if we don't go off sick in Xmas pressure.
