Re: stage warnings
You were staged (1) in May 2011.
Then you had a day off 2 weeks ago (tablets)
Then you were off Fri/Sat (hospital)
If i've got this right then you will have triggered a stage 2 interview.(2 absences within any 6 month period)
That doesn't mean it will be issued though.

Did'nt think you could appeal stage 1 or 2 warnings.trebor1998 wrote:i came off work on 3rd dec 2010 and returned on 3rd may 2011 due to having a torn tendon repair on shoulder i did everything that royal mail asked went to physio etc then got a stage 1 warning for this then about 2 weeks ago i had a day off due to having some tablets fom consultant which did not agree, and on friday 4th dec i was rushed in hospital at 4 am in morning then came home on saturday will or should i be on a stage 2 when i return on tuesday as i have holiday monday my union rep was supposed to be fighting my stage 1 but he got suspended i have contacted via email my local union branch can any one spread any light on this for me much apprieciated

The decision in itself....no.jockstrapp wrote:

The procedures/processes that led up to the decision....yes.
If,for instance you find out that an absence was wrongly categorised or the dates were wrong or even something like refusal of representation or insufficient warning would all be grounds to fight the stage....then there are mitigating circumstances.
That's probably the hardest to fight over but if you can show that a manager has completely ignored any mitigating circumstances then you might have a case.
Too many reps and members just accept stages being handed out without a fight.
Even if you lose you may just make the manager think twice the next time.

Re: stage warnings
If you trigger a stage they will issue it. No common sense between any of them . They will issue for anything inc operations ,concussion etc.In 11 yrs only once has a warning not been issued.

Re: stage warnings
I thought it was more than 2 absences, totalling more than 10 days, that triggered a stage 2.

So you're allowed 2 absences or 10 days?

Attendance may be regarded as warranting formal action if an employee who is not on trial has: 2 absences or 10 days in any 6 month period during the next 12 months

Surprised me that. I've always worked on the view that 2 separate absences was ok, so long as they didn't total more than 10 days
