parcelforce casuals

IIt's a bad day to be a casual at the parcelforce national hub as the opportunity of being made substantive employees or even stc's was removed tonight for "the foreseeable future" due to the current financial position of the company. The casuals in the hub which must amount to nearly a 100 were gathered together and told that the mythical carrot ( keep quiet work hard and you will get "made up" after two years) was no longer there but I guess we should all be comforted by the rest of the brief which concluded with "how the unit cost was down, volumes were up and so was the proffit". Ok I guess some may think that was a little tackless but then we are only casuals after all and at least the hub bonus was good and the clearance paid, oh forgot you have to be substantive to get that. Don't know what to look forward to most asking the union rep what help they can offer ( considering his opinion when asked the other week about the agency workers regulations was "i don't give a f**k about them if their not in the union") or waiting for the angard contracts which I would guess won't be long arriving. Oh nearly forgot no pay increase either I guess 6.20 hr should do it has done for the last three years.

Sorry to hear about your Troubles at this "Pre-Festive" Time of the year mate. You'd think you'd be able to make a bit of money in this type of a business at this time of year wouldn't you? Apparently not unless you're one of the Top Management and then you can expect a 50% pay increase as announced in the News today!

I know it's easy to say but can't you get something somewhere else? It'd be worth it just to avoid putting money into these arseholes pockets! £6.20 is taking the piss mate you can get that cleaning. Looks like Parcel Force Casuals are going the way of Angard and Royal Mail Part timers. good Luck.

I guess your right look elsewhere unfortunately this management approach is being taken up everywhere now, zero hour contracts and shadey methods of avoiding employment legislation are becoming the new way of business. All seems a bit disappointing in a business state owned and carrying the "royal" charter. Doesnt make much business sense either as nearly half the workforce are now motivated and actively looking elsewhere for work at a time when the proffits from parcelforce are most needed
