i'm used to walking and phsyical labour ( have carried 30 kilo )
whats the average bag / pouce weight

There is no average weight as it gets lighter all the time, well until the next bag anyway. Maximum weight is 16kg and delivery spans with pouches on shoulder should be 3.5 hours.

As a guide I have done Army Combat Fitness Tests (8 miles in 1hr 55 minutes, with a 25kg pack) and whilst that is harder and more exhausting on the day, at least you have time to recover. The problem with being a postie with a pouch is that although the physical effort day to day is not great, it is however, repetitive and there is little time to recover. Given the choice of a CFT 1 day a week and a delivery 5 days a week - Id opt for the CFT.

As to the other stuff - Light weight trolleys (Golf) I think the maximum weight allowed is 32kg (pulled or pushed) Where as the Pram type (HCT) ones are 105 kg (with the weight of the HCT included).

Average walking speed expected ranges from 3.9 to 4.1 mph whilst actually walking - an average of 2.1 mph over the whole duty(with pouches and LWTs) . This also helps work out the total miles covered. For example a 3.5hr delivery with a pouch or HCT your furthest distance would be 7.35 miles. However a LWT delivery ( P&L) has I think no upper limit and you could be walking for 5 or 6 hours.

Maximum weight of one pouch is 16kg.
The rest should be 11kg.
Don't ever carry any more than that. In fact don't even carry that if you can help it.
