Can a manager ignore an Atos report ie. not discuss it with the person it relates to?

According to reports on here they seem to and seem to be getting away with it.
My argument which i would win is you sent me there,you don't like what comes out of it tough.
But that's just me,and my office.

If he ignores it then do what he tells you to do , next day phone in and say the injury is much worse and get your doctor to sign you off and nilk it for as long as you can . TBO hes be silly to ignore it but it does happen .

Had this once, when the report came back which wasn't in his favour he got all arsey about it.
Stuck to my guns, told him to abide by the recommendations if not i will personally take you to a tribunal.

Had a similar experience with a line manager, who had no medical qualifications, questioning the judgement of an ATOS officer as it didn't fit his requirements. A grievance was raised and preparations were in place for an employment tribunal should that procedure fail. His foolish 'judgement' was knocked back by the sector manager and the situation was resolved to the satisfaction of both sides two levels above idiot line managers head. Crazy that it had to take the idea of a tribunal in the real world outside Royal Mail to get a fair result, but this is the level of numpty we are cursed with at liner level. Keep all your evidence and be polite but persistent. Eventually, the penny will drop that legislation outside RM is the real deal, not the whimsical fantasies of self-absorbed managers who think that nothing exists outside their own little world of "the business".

The favorite saying is 'its only advice and we don't have to adhere to it', they've used that line with me before and they seem to be using it a LOT lately with people that have had referals. Basically if it does'nt say what they want it to say they take no notice.

had that many a time in our DO.

the only way is to go back to your GP, explain and go back on sick.
