suspended for alleged swearing

i have been working at rm for 7 years with not a stage warning or anything on my record. monday was the 1st day for P & L (park & loop)including all specials & packets using PDAs. myself & partner had to go over by 20 mins which i booked & he didnt. only had 1 special £ 1 tracked. tuesday was much worse with 8 ssspecials & 4 tracked more mail with water bills going out. returned to office with 30 mins of mail left later than the time in my contract and had argument with line manager but did not swear. went into work this morning at which point i was called into office to be informed by DOM that i was being suspended for swearing at someone in callers office on monday. i have no recollection of this incident. to say i was shocked & stunned is an under statement. i am very mindful of what i say at work because of the way RM operate. i do have a bit of history with RM last year i was off sick for 2 and half month due to depression caused by the bullying tactics from royal mail.
anybody have any advice how to proceed i resigned from union 2 month ago

Rejoin the union.
Depending on your Branch they may ask you to pay the union dues you missed when out of the union.
Do they have witnesses to your swearing?
Did you "swear" at a colleague, a manager or a member of the public?

whilst many feel let down by the CWU at the moment i feel that withdrawing would be like taking your seatbelt off just before impact.

RM are not interested in anything but reducing the workforce for as little cost as possible.

get on to your branch and see what they can do for you.

i have no witnesses to the event but DOM said accusser has a witness and he will investigate.

Two and a half months off for depression and no stage? Notwithstanding the depression, you did well there.

You really need to have the union on your side but I am sure there is a clause about rejoining and then immediately requiring their service.

the reason why i left the union aws that during a union meeting about signing in the park & loop and start times i was verbally assaulted by the local H & S cwu
rep in front of 40 -50 people , that day i went home & cancelled my union fees

Call his bluff. If you didn't swear then tell him to bring his witness to a meeting so you can discuss it. It's sounds like hes throwing his rattle out of the pram because you are not playing nicely with him, and doing lots of work for free like he expects!

To qualify that a bit, the rep only has to make sure RM follow the agreed procedures, they don't have to go into full scale battle for a non member but the do have to go if asked.

Have they told you what you're alleged to have said?

Someone may have misheard you and assumed they heard a swear word.

I once said to a friend on the school bus "You're out early!" He replied "Yeah I just finished faster." The driver jumped out of his seat and grabbed the boy by the scruff of his neck. He thought he'd heard the words "baldy bast**d".
