Been to my induction today :)what to expect on my first day?

what usally happens on your first day? im only in for 4 hours so just wondering what il be up to

Well, after the first 30 mins or so they stop flushing your head down the toilet...



...for some new starters the job goes downhill after that.

seriously tho, it's more likely to be just shadowing somebody the whole time. There's a lot to take in so ask any questions you can think of - there's nothing more frustrating than finding yourself out on your own wishing you'd just asked the darned question on day one!

depends on the size of the office, you should have your walk prepped, and you will be overwhelmed, but you have to start somewhere.
and ask questions, postmen are usually very good.

Get ready for your walk not prepped full timers standing around talking and asking to leave the office at 9amto start there round so they can be done by 11:15

Get everything your manger tells you to do in writing - just say it is for an aide memoir to help you in your first few days - then you may be safe enough when u go to an ET for failing to do what you were asked....... Good luck for the future I hope u like the job as it turns out to be.................

yeah... "should" being the key word....

i dont think that any of the new starts that came into the offices i worked at, had the walk prepared for them apart from on the first 2 or 3 days when they were shadowing a full timer... and even then, the full timers seem to view new starts as "walking trolleys" and are there only to be used to carry the pouch...

not trying to scare the OP... but expect 2 or 3 days working with a full timer... then the next 2 or 3 days expect some assistance when tying down your walk, followed by being left to deal with things on your own ... aka being thrown in at the deep end.
also expect your DOM to be very friendly and seemingly helpfull for your first few weeks before he/she treats you with the same disdain he/she treats everyone else with...

also could be worth your while informing your doctor of your impending employment... as in a few weeks/months you will be seeing him/her regularly for pain killers, sedatives or anti depressants aswell.
