We are writing to let you all know that thus far no information is available from the national talks. As you will be aware the talks are fully in confidence and as of yet there are no developments to report.

What we can do is give you a low down of some of the issues across the Country at the moment.
CASUALS
Management are using casuals in Mail Centres right across the Country. Here we will be using the appropriate channels to challenge this and as always we will keep you fully updated on any developments. The use of agency staff must be challenged by the union nationally and we have written to CWU HQ expressing this view.
DELIVERY STAFF DOING THE JOB PROPERLY
In offices right across the UK delivery postal workers are refusing to take their cars, refusing to come in early, taking their scheduled breaks and weighing their bags. This is having a massive affect on Royal Mail and we MUST replicate this everywhere in order for Royal Mail to realise that enough is enough!
ATTACKS ON CWU OFFICIALS
Up and down the country representatives are having their facilities attacked for a variety of reasons. As a branch we know exactly how this feels and if Royal Mail chooses to use this approach in our Area we are well aware that the membership will support us 100%. This issue has been taken up nationally and hopefully Royal Mail will see sense and remove the sanctions that they have placed against our officials.
LETTER TO MEMBERS
Over the course of the next week all members will receive a letter from CWU HQ explaining the very latest position. The key aspects of the dispute will be re-iterated and the union will let all members know that reaching a negotiated settlement remains our number 1 priority.

We realise the lack of updates from CWU HQ are hard to understand for some members. We ask you all to appreciate that the in confidence negotiations give both sides the chance to talk in an open and honest manner. You can be sure though that as soon as anything does come out you will be the very first people to know.
