Revision

Post by tom63uk »

Our office is going through a revision at the moment which i would think like alot of others. In the revision it looks like i will lose my duty so they can split it up to use for others to have extra on theirs. I am being told by one manager i am allowed to pick a duty in the office where i am senior to the other posties and they do the same and so on.Another manager said this is not the case so i am waiting to find out what the right answer is. In the mean time can anyone help on here cheers

In our office, if it was only you who lost a duty you would get first pick, regardless of seniority.

If you have had revision in which over 30% of duties have changed then a repick is triggered as per way forward, if you are made surplus then you fill vacancies

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

congratulations on becoming the supernumary in your office!

you will now be given the ABSOLUTE worst duties you can imagine. worse than the reserves. actually most weeks you probably won't (read: never) have a duty, as that means your hours are required and are not a 'saving'.

you will be first choice to be sent to another office, if they have a shortfall in staff and there is next to nothing you can do about it, because you are a sup (read up on your local agreement regarding loans to other offices).

infact kiss goodbye to job security, because if RM start swinging the compulsary redundancy hammer, you are first on the line because you have been identified as 'surplus to requirements'.

if you want a substantive job (meaning there is little to no chance of being compulsory transferred) you have to wait for one of your colleagues to leave or get sacked.

read up on MTSF as they will apply that to you (unless you are me for some reason, they never bothered), this DOES NOT mean you will get the chance of a pay off. VR/EVR are a very small (imo unimportant) part of that agreement, and RM are more likely to go down the redeployment route with someone in a DO than MC, simply due to skills and a proven ability to perform. Under MTSF you can be transferred without prior agreement (the agreement in that process imo is more like consultation) to another office, where there is a 'suitable' job. but that is a ways down the road, talk to your rep about vacancies in the area, and the likelyhood of that actually being applied. there are better people than myself who can talk you through MTSF, so just ask around here or at your branch.

that was my experience of being a sup anyway.

N.B. supernumary and surplus are 2 totally different things, surplus means you are under the terms of MTSF pending a review on your situation, and supernumary is a reserve who isn't needed. the 2 may overlap but the process of handling them are totally different.

same happened to me and I am havin to cover for people who are off as he claims not to have a duty for me. I HATE it after havin my own delivery since I started. But manager not sympathetic - plus I only do 20hrs so I have to fight all the time to get him to take some off coz none of the duties is 3 an a half hours any more !!!
its just tough luck as far as my managers concerned!!
