Shared Van

Hey all, the shared van thing will be in our office soon and I'm not looking forward to it! Can anyone please tell me their experiences of it? Cheers

It's not if it's actually done correctly but RM seem to think that they can just bolt 2 duties together...........then add most of another duty plus all the bulks and still expect it to be done in the time.

Our van share has been put back again due to it not working in another local DO. Until they can make it work there, ours wont come in.

When the traffic levels are near to the levels they used for revision it does work really well , sadly this is probably about 40% of the year . At 40% I might be being a little optimistic .

I find it hard working with some none drivers , some of them automatically take the back seat and exspect you to plan how the two duties should be delivered . They seem to think the onus is on the driver to remember all the specials , tracked and large packets . If you get paired with someone who pulls their weight it's spot on . It's also good if you like a chat , through the days work .

That's bang on. My usual partner is fine, but the leave subs I get on his day off don't give a shite. I organise the walks, packets, load the van and get the specials. I've also taken mail back a couple of times as if one of you is slow the duties don't work. (i'm not talking about a runner, i'm talking about a useless bellend who takes 2 hours to throw in some sequencing and stops for a rollup every 30 seconds once out on the walk)

basically it depends entirely on who you're working with. If you get on with your partner, then you'll be ok no matter how shite the walks are as you can just cut off but you'll at least have worked together at it.

If you don't like working with them, then every day is garbage.

We started in December and that wasn't so great . I just couldn't believe how full the van was and I felt demoralised before I left the office . At the moment with summer traffic levels we do have a fighting chance and I do prefer it to the old delivery method . The use of a trolley is second nature and the difference in how well my back feels at the end of the day is great . I've just put the end of September and onwards out of my mind for the moment but I know whats looming
