Golf trolley or bag on back

I had my conduct code meeting yesterday, won't go into details yet as awaiting for the result,

All I can say from my point of view it seemed to go quite well,
One of the issues that came up was wether to use a golf trolley as I call them or a bag on the back, my manager wants me to use a bag on back( now he was told in interview, that i have a part disability on my back, ( when i use a bag on back it causes me a lot of pain and discomfort and slows me down) so union rep offered to him that i use a trolley which I would do,

Can a manager make you use a bag or can i refuse, so as too use a trolly, my manager thinks I use too many bags as I break them down to put packets in rather then stuff them all in the bags I use for each road he criticised me while out on delivery for putting pkts in a sep bag in hct till I pick them up and transfer the pkts to cycle pannier

Goto your GP . Tell him your back is so sore you cant continue BUT your willing to use the trolley .

He would IMO give you a fit note stating u must use a trolley .

Dont see what the problem is if your willing to still do your work unless your going over everyday by a big bit .

I'm sure I read in other Posts that Posties are being threatened if they don't use the correct delivery method; i.e Use the LWT or HCT!
I was sure that these new working methods with trolleys and vans were designed to "Remove the weight from the Shoulder" in the interests of H & S.
However I did see a Postie today in a Park & Loop Revisioned Office, that should have been using a HCT, walking up the road with a bag over his shoulder. I was even more surprised when he jumped in his car and drove off!

I would say that use of a golf trolleeey is mandatory on P&L except on Flats etc. Then again so is a cycle helmet on cycle deliveries but very few take any notice of that. However, I would imagine your manager is making a fuss is because he knows that trolleys are slower. I also believe that trolleys are unsuitable for people with back problems.
