VAN share has started here in Northern Ireland....and I was wondering if there are any CWU reps here that can advise me. Our new delivery system aint working...delivery takes over 5 hours for most duties, and with parcels, special deliveries, tracked items and recorded items...it is impossible to get the delivery finished in time. There fore we are being told that we must get permission as to how much we can leave of our deliveries before we go out. Management say we are "not" allowed to bring anything back which we take out for delivery...yet they will not allow us to leave what we will not be able to get delivered....so what do we do? Can anyone advise...can we "bring back" mail which we cannot get delivered before our time is due to finish?

Ok this is what you do.
You give them two choices.
1)They decide how much you take out in which case you reserve the right to bring back anything that you cannot deliver inside your contracted hours.
2)You decide how much you take out in which case the decision and any fall back rests with you.
Put it in writing and give it to your Dom(preferably through your rep)
Make them decide....they can't have it both ways.

load of rubbish! they can NEVER make you work over! even if you leave in the office what you believe you cannot complete in time,then when on your delivery you realize you have not left enough you contact your manager asap let him/her know and tell them you will be bringing more stuff back as you are not willing to work over. that is the correct over running mail's procedure. you never have to do forced overtime.

If I were you I would totally take the piss and say you'll only complete 1 1/2 rounds at the most, that way you can take your time, amble round and eventually they will alter the round to what you comfortably complete on a regular basis, don't run around ever, cos they ain't daft!
