Sick leave while wildcat action takes place?

Gods sake tv make a decision for yourself. Either stand with your workmates on the gate or walk past them and work, you wont have many workmates if you do the latter but its up to you. Put yourself in the position of the lads who have been sacked, apparantly they all have 30 yrs seniority Royal Mail dont care anymore about who they get rid of. Next time it could be you or one of your mates.

If someone's already on sick leave (with a genuine illness!) BEFORE the action is announced, then I don't see a problem. If however, someone miraculously goes on sick leave, just before the start of the action (which has already been announced). Then quite frankly, it's disgusting!!!!!

Obviously, there's a slim (but real) chance that someone might ACTUALLY be taken ill at a time like that. But unless it's something serious, for which they'd end up with a Fit Note anyway (proving they're genuine) they shouldn't phone in sick, and should take the loss of wages just like everyone else. But if they're genuinley ill, then we should cut them some slack. But in nearly 15 years at RM, I've only missed a couple of days worth of Strikes (all in the same action), because of being on the sick. And I'd been off for a while BEFORE any action was announced (and joined in the continuing action after my return to work, obviously). And besides: You've already said you were considering "throwing a sickie" to avoid loosing money. And I'm sorry to be so harsh. But that's even lower than Strike breaking! Because your Colleagues won't neccessarily know that, that's what you're up to.

Every time there is IA we get the "what should i do?" brigade on.
I will respect anyone's decision or opinion but quite frankly can't be arsed with people who only want someone else to justify their position for them.
Make a decision and live with that decision and all the consequences that come with making that decision.
