Route Training issues

Hi me again, does anyone know what is the maximum amount of routes that we can learn. All advise greatly appreciated

No i don't think so,if you're a reserve/floater you learn as you go along.

So in effect then it is possible to learn all the routes in our office, small office with 30 routes.

Yes and tbh it would make your life easier if it ended up that way,because you are a reserve you could at any time be put on anything/any duty you are trained to do.

I'm a reserve, I know 44 duties in our office out of about 70, so when someone goes sick it's me who gets shafted and moved, it's a f***in nightmare, in no way shape or form does it make my life easier!!!!

I've edited your post to highlight the bits I want to address

the first part is what was expected all all Newbies when I started, you got shat on and pissed about but that was how it was and you LEARNT from it, you learnt rounds, you learned to adapt, then as you learnt all the routes it got easier, next time you got shafted you at least knew the round you were put on at 8 am!

as for the second part well that will just make it harder and make the pain last longer

as time goes on other new people start and then it's their turn, and things slowly get better but you know your job inside and out and whatever is thrown at you you cope

so no POSTMAN isn't talking rubbish it's good advice or as we called it back in the day - learning the ropes

indeed my office has about 160 walks I remember nightmares on about 50 of them back in the day

these days i'm consider 'senior' but I still get moved around but hey ho I cope

Its all confusing realy i have been postie for 3 and a half years had myself a nice little float job, then we had a resign and some git signed for my float job and hey ho now im a reserve again. How s**t is that.

yes id say the little you know is better for a reserve as if you dont know a duty they cant put you on it avoid all big duties you can say i dont know that duty
