Redirection query

Post by wiganpostie »

When I first started, an old timer told me that when a new tenant of a property is given a forwarding address by the old tenant and writes that new address on any mail received, we are obliged to deliver the redirection, even though it hasn't been paid for. Is that true, or have I just been incredibly naive? :confused

I always thought the opposite was true. We do deliver items like this , but we are not obliged to. Seem to remember RM having a purge on items like this years ago, but as with everything , it petered out.

I was always told they are allowed one "free" redirection and should it be redirected again then it should be surcharged.

prior to the redirection starting a keepsafe must be put in place to hold the customers mail to allow time for the redirection to be set up , it takes around 7 days to go through the system. hope this helps.

Unless it's redirected by a business we have to deliver no matter what.
