end to seniority
with the introduction of shared van duties we're being told they will have one full timer and one 24hour per van.that effectively ends seniority for the majority of staff.there's apparently a shortage of 24 hour staff so they will be recruited to fill the vacant duties.as for the rest of us we'll be absorbed within the business so thats ok then.

Near enough yes...
http://www.royalmailchat.co.uk/communit ... 36&t=28194" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; This can be a complex consideration, but the bottom line is that from Go-Live there must be sufficient people in the right duties to cover all deliveries, including Reserves and Covers.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: end to seniority
Just about everything else has been handed back to Royal Mail on a plate, why not our seniority?
Why should we have anything?

Not in the Royal Mail workplace, I don't. RM/CWU have made dignity in the workplace, a thing of the past.DGP1 wrote:You still have your dignityDirtyHarry wrote:Just about everything else has been handed back to Royal Mail on a plate, why not our seniority?

Re: end to seniority
Its a national aim rather than per workplace. It refers to the state of play at the end of March 2013 if my memory is correct.

Yes but individual offices have no way of confirming or checking national statistics only provided by an employer who has no real interest in a 3:1 ratio. Each office needs must strive to get their own figures as close to the 3:1 ratio; once achieved the national statistics will obviously match!Big Daz wrote:Its a national aim rather than per workplace. just read elsewhere that according to the way forward re signs will be done on the basis of seniority 16.4 resoucing through major change.or is there a missing sentence along the lines of "only if the manager wants it that way"

What you have to do is look around your office...tiggle wrote:Himaggen wrote:Yes but individual offices have no way of confirming or checking national statistics only provided by an employer who has no real interest in a 3:1 ratio. How many drivers have you got,how many OPG's with a driving licence, how many without.
You have to have one driver and one non driver at least for a P&L duty.
Reserves, most of them will have to be a driver.
Now will it work having a part timer or even a full timer as aP&L partner? Only time will tell.
But yes in the main seniority is kinda out of the window a bit with this.
