I have to admit that I thought it was only 1 lieu day for new year too

Yep Sat 1 Jan was not a public holiday but was a non service day - so unfortunately if it was your day off then you don't get a lieu day - you do for the Monday (3 Jan) which was a Public Holiday.

As a point of interest Christmas Day was the same.

Sat (1st) - Inservice day - no day in lieu
mon(3rd) - Bank Hol - day in lieu if its ur day off


tue (4th) - Scotland only bank hol - day in lieu if its ur day off, scotland only

How do we get our day in lieu? Is it just added to our holiday allowance?

Yes it should be done automatically - but always worth seeing your manager to make sure.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
