Geo Route

Is there anyone on here that knows if geo route is very similar to gold dust! My manager seems to think so and claims he cannot get hold of it to use in our revision. He wants our office to come up with the new routes instead. My union rep seems to think he is full of donkey s**t and suspects if he puts our current dutys in geo route it will show that we do not need to get rid of any hours. My union rep is standing firm on wanting to see everything put through geo route first before anything move on.

Depending what area you are from,it could be more a case of a lack of planners,as opposed to the software,most likely though you manager is under pressure to rush a savings plan through(revision)make no mistake though geo-route will take hours out!!

Geo route is just as bad as it always was maybe worse, if you can do a revision without it, and thats what your DOM's offering i would take his hand off.

I believe our DO has used the Georoute system for our planned revision, we've got lots of maps with all the loops on, we've also had a planner camped out in the office for several weeks.
Having said that I can't agree with robd's statement that it will definitely take hours out. I believe it depends on how well staffed the office is (and how easy your duties were!). The proposed revision shows that we'll need to recruit nearly 10 new Posties, due to the fact that if they kept the present number of duties they would be MEGA BIG! Surprise Surprise!
The duties that they've tested on Park n Loop came in at about 6 hours walking/delivery Needless to say we've had the Revision postponed until Jan. We've also got an experienced Postie in the office double checking all the Duties/Routes and trying to make some sense out of them.
As suggested elsewhere they should have done that in the first place However there was such a bad feeling between us and management that they were told to shove it and use their new systems to work it out.

We were informed that the poor floaters will be sorting out the jobs for revision as they know the jobs! So not only are we always kicked off our duties to accommadate a greedy selfish coont working there day off,talked to like rubbish,,,,,treated like a new start etc,but they expect us to to all this for em,,,. OH THATS RIGHT IF IT GOES TITS UP,,,,,
