Youngest Senior Man/Woman

A friend of mine works down the road from me in a small DO of about 15 deliveries. The No. 1 person resigned a couple of weeks ago as she couldn't face the idea of P&L coming and bigger deliveries. This left my friend as no. 1 in seniority and he is only 38 - he joined RM at 18 and has done 20 years uninterrupted service. Just wondered if he could be RM Youngest Senior Man? Anyone know of any younger ones?

I'm 42 and have 23 years in, i'm now about 17th on the list of about 60 people, would be well in the top 10 but we have had about 10 poeple come in over the years moving above me brigging in thier seniority, no problem with that apart from one that was moved for haraasesment, that one does piss me off alittle if i'm honest.

joined straight from school as a cadet and thought i'd do a couple of years and move on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 31 and most senior in my office of 14 people joined at 16

i am 38 and have done 22 years service 15 of them were good am in the top twenty in my office of 130 it a shame the job gone the way it has sometimes i think that they want rid of any one with seniority most of the new ones just do what there told and are afraid to say i can not do that .

I joined @ 16 and am 35yrs old, bloody sad jobs like life sentence lol.

Most senior in my DO started in 1969....never took a days sick either!!

I joined R/M 1970, am now number 2 on the list out of a delivery office of 235 staff.

I joined ten years ago and my seniority has moved at the same rate of the walk slashing. This means that with every resign I have had 2 or 3 walks to pick from and will be the same next revision even though I am technically 70 places higher than I was when I started! Next revison will mean since I began 1/3 of the walks have gone.... yet RM can still not make a profit, work that one out!

I think absolutely every person who lands a job as a postie thinks it will be a quick fix until something else comes up. I thought i would last a few months max...I've been at Royal Mail for two YEARS to the day! The problem is the job takes so much out of you that you don't have the energy to try and improve your circumstances.

I'm pretty convinced I'm going to uni next September, the money earned from this job will help take the sting out of the inevitable debt, i just hope the riots keep on going! If i don't act soon I'll never get out of the RM bubble and, before i know it I'll be 40, bragging about being the most senior guy in the office.

Only been a postie just over a year, something I wish I had followed through on applying for several years ago when unhappy at my old place of work.... Don't laugh too much!

I don't "enjoy" all aspects of the terms of my employment (especially the bit regarding sick/holiday pay based on 22.5 hours, not the typical ~37+ I do each week), but being a postie has had a dramatic theraputical effect on my health. I have suffered from Seaonal Affective Disorder ("winter depression") for just over 15 years, but the two winters as a postie have been my most positive by a country mile, due to being outdoors for 5+ hours a day (helping to dramatically re-balance serratonin and melatonin levels in my bloodstream, hormones at the core of the illness).
