fixed term temporary contract
could someone out there please explain to me this grey area concerning temporary contracts. I have now been on a fixed term temp contract for 2 and a half years now, should i now be given a permanent contract? The grey area is whether it is 2 or 4 years on a temp contract and then be made up. Looking at the mtsf it says 2 years. I am on a 30 hour a week contract but just recently 2 new people in our office were employed on permanent contracts, do i have grounds for going through the grievance procedure? Not nice these letters i keep getting telling me when my contract ends which " reflects our expectations of when the need for your services is likely to come to an end"

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

I would get your union rep to look into this, in our office some staff had 20 hr contracts, but new staff were brought in on 25hr contracts and I was told this wasn't fair, hours should have allocated to existing staff first.
