Help! New duties are rubbish.
New duties brought in last week. I have a HCT walk near the office which suits to a point, but the problem is it is too big and too heavy. The walk is twice the size of the the old walks but we now have less time to do it in. Prep in the office is a joke - nowhere near enough people to sort and prep the mail so the failure rate is huge with as much as half being hidden out of sight every day. We start a seven, sort until 9:30, break until 10:00 and then prep a mountain of mail. I have not got out of the office before 12 on any day yet and with a finish at 3 we have very little time to complete. Most are doing stupid amounts of overtime to get done and even then are not always completing. What utter rubbish. I need to fetch my kids at 3:30 so I am cutting off and bringing back. Problem is my DIM has decided that it is all my fault and is threatening me with the sack unless I complete. I took 120kg of mail out of that door today and brought a bag and a half back - cant do any more, but I need the job. DIM says she has a queue of people who say that they will complete any walk she asks and then accuses me of being lazy. FFS what more can I do. I need this job but I am not working after 3 o'clock - end of. What can i do?

you are entitled to pick your kids up royal mail operates a family friendly policie tell them to stick there overtime up there arse!!

ask her to show you how to do it in time you have. Maybe she can advise you if you are doing anything wrong like not running fast enough lol. Reading the forums my heart goes out to the bad managers blaming staff for a system that does not work. Seems like something with these revsions is not been done correct.

Are you in the union,what has your rep said,what has your colleages said.
Is it just your walk or are others f****d as well?
Also your wank manager can't sack you,there is a process to go through and chances are you will not get anywhere near to being sacked.
Also you're only supposed to take out 105kg in a HCT.H&S and all that.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

Yes I am in the union, but rep is useless. Colleagues are happier to keep their heads down and get on with it and get the overtime even if it means doing deliveries in the dark. All the other walks are as bad if not worse. Nobody in this office has ever stood up for themselves and said enough is enough. I haven't done any overtime for over a year now.
If they want to argue with you about doing ot, tell them you are on tax credits so ot would not be productive for you.
Remember, people who don't do there jobs right by coming in early, running, doing overtime under duress etc.. are making a bed of shite for anyone else coming into Royal mail as well as people like us.
When will people realize that the tide will only turn when everyone is prepared to work their time with a proper work ethic, without cutting corners?
