Revision Questions

Hi

I wonder whether somebody could clarify the following for me as I seem unable to get a straight answer from anyone at my office.

1) When the revision is implemented, I will be required to commence work at 4:30 as opposed to my current 05:00 start. Is there a shift allowance for this start time or was this abolished with the introduction of the delivery supplement which of course everybody receives irrespective of their start time & whether they work inside or outdoors? Is there any legal requirement for the company or any company to pay an allowance for starting work at this time?

2) Is it common practice during a revision for deliveries to be reserved for part time members of staff. All cycle deliveries will be of the same duration, the only diffence bewtween full & part time is the IPS element. A number of full time staff have been left as spares whilst less senior part timers now have their own rounds. Doesn't this defeat the object of having a repick & I fail to see the reasoning behind this. At no point did I hear the rurals that picked cycle deliveries being told that they had been reserved for full time cycle staff, same thing in my opinion.

3) I have learnt that holiday entitlements will be amended dependant on what shift has been chosen/allocated i.e. a person on a 10 hour shift will receive 4/5 of the current entitlement. Will this take place when the revision is implemented or at the start of the next holiday year? I am somewhat concerned how this will effect somebody who has booked or taken all of their current entitlement...will the company be asking for days back as obviously the entitlement will be reduced if opting for a 9 or 10 hour day.

4) What is the length of meal breaks given to those who will be on a 9 hour & 10 hour shift?

I think that it is absolute madness that a complete revision is being introduced prior to Christmas and am dreading the forthcoming changes which I consider to be totally unnecessary at our office. They may well have eliminated a number of deliveries but little thought has been given to the way in which the workload from these deliveries has been distributed thus leaving numerous unrealistic & unachievable duties whilst there are some that will be losing more than they are gaining. I haved served 15 years and at present I can safely say that if the current economic climate was different, I would not be wishing to remain with the company as I have never along with the majority of staff been so unhappy. Thus far this year, along with so many others across the board, I have lost £15-20 per week with the loss of d2d & shift allowance payments, lost my delivery of many years, will lose my forthcoming Christmas tips & also find that any docket correctly booked for ex delivery is being crossed off by the management & filed with absolutely no discussion which in my eyes is fraud.

1) No.. ESA 1 which would have covered both a 0430 and a 0500 start has gone.
2) It would seem so judging by the posts on here...is it fair?...different question.
3) I would doubt if RM can work out you holiday entitlement across two patterns,the seem to have enough problems with one but you may find at the end of this holiday year that you owe a couple of days..this will probably be re-adjusted with next years allocation.
