JUST A QUICK QUESTION, I HAVE HAD A STAGE 1 WARNING TODAY AND IT WAS ISSUED, I HAVE HAD 4 ABSENSES TOTALING 21 DAYS, 1ST) 3 DAYS, 2ND) 7 DAYS, 3RD) 2 DAYS AND 4TH) 9 DAYS.
I RETURNED AFTER THE 4TH ABSENSE OF 9 DAYS ON 2/10/10, NO RETURN TO WORK INTERVIEW WAS DONE AND I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF THEY COULD INCLUDE IT IN MY STAGE WARNING, AS IF IT ISN'T INCLUDED I WOULD BE UNDER THE ALLOWANCE FOR A STAGE 1.

Just a quick request please turn off Caps Lock in internet speak its called shouting.
As to the questions. AFAIK they can issue a Stage without a RTW interview as the RTW is an in essence an informal process to make sure you are recovered and fit and able to do the job, and to address any issues you or your manager have about the absence. The Stages 1,2 and 3 are formal steps where because your attendance has fallen below certain agreed levels certain actions and procedures need to take place.
Also as Stage 1 and 2 cannot be queried (wrong word but you know what I mean) but a Stage 3 can, keep this information just in case your Stage 1 does continue through stage 2 and stage 3, it may help if the manager has not followed the Admin procedure to the letter.
However, I must state that recent ETs have not given any credence to a RTW being missed as a reason to say dismissal was unfair.

Sorry about caps and thanks for the reply.
Looks like i had better just deal with it then, just felt a bit hard done by i guess, seeing as except for an rta on duty in april 08, my last illness (not including my accident on duty), was in october 2007. My first absence for this stage 1 was in march 2010, so that was 2 years and 5 months with no absenses except my rta on duty, seems abit harsh to be put on this slippery stage warning path to me just because i had a rough year, but what else do we expect nowadays from royal mail.

There is some flexibility in the attendance procedure, your manager doesn't necessarily have to give you a stage warning, although it may be justified according to the attendance procedure.*EDDIE* wrote:Sorry about caps and thanks for the reply.
