There could be a bit of bull s**t there by the DOM.Are you seriously under staffed or something and YTF does it have to be a swap.

Get your arse to Dudley and go to what offices are there and see if there are any vacancies yourself,it will be much quicker.

Job Description

We are now recruiting Delivery Postmen/ Delivery Postwomen to work at Walsall Delivery Office. Delivery postpeople represent Royal Mail and are an established part of the community. Youll enjoy working outdoors and meeting people and have a professional and positive attitude.

As a Delivery Postperson, you will start the day by collecting pre-sorted mail in order for it to be delivered. The average delivery walk lasts approximately 3 and a half hours and each day you will have to deliver multiple bags (approximately 6-8 mailbags), which can each weigh up to 16kg. You will work in all weathers delivering the mail either on foot, by cycle or in a shared van.

You need to consider how you will get to work, as public transport may not be available at the start of your shift.

Contract: Fixed term - 9 Months

Hours of work: Part time, 20 hours per week 9:30am to 2:30pm Wednesday to Saturday with a rotating day off

Salary: £7.98 per hour plus overtime and shift allowance if applicable
With a pay increment after 6 & 12 months (subject to satisfactory performance)

Delivery Postman / Delivery Postwoman requirements:

Flexible outlook and openness to change be willing to carry out a variety of tasks and on occasions work at nearby offices/take on additional work

Ability to work in a team and individually
Accuracy and attention to detail skills
Ability to work under pressure, problem solve and meet targets
Punctual and reliable
Capable of meeting the physical demands of the job the ability to lift & carry bags weighing 16kg each
A commitment to health and safety
Be security focused
Possession of a driving licence is preferred as there is an increase of the use of vans during a delivery route.
Geographical knowledge preferred

Thanks for your input so far. I do believe that my DOM want's to help me due to my personal circumstances. He know's a swap may not be possible and I accept this but it has got to be worth a try. Lounge Lizard thanks for such a comprehensive post but I am an experienced postman who has done it all from bike delivery's to 7.5t night mail run's, I know the job inside out. Why would Royal Mail want to allow all the training and experience they have given me over the years go to waste as a 20 hour 9 month temp' (no disrespect to temp's who are after all just trying to survive, like the rest of us).
