As daft a question as it sounds, i need to know the answer,
i work 4 x 10 hour shifts per week, if i wanted a week off work,
could i just book those 4 days off, or would i lose 5.

Heya,
As daft a question as it sounds, i need to know the answer,

As far as I know, your holiday allowance is based on the number of days per week. If you are contracted for 4 days per week and you have 4 and a half weeks holiday, that would be 18 days, or 4 weeks and 2 days. One weeks holiday would be 4 days not 5 days, but would still be classed as 1 week. If you purchased extra days up to 6 weeks that would be 24 days.

Pin is right i'm on that shift,when you book a 'week' off you lose 4 days only.

I know someone who claims to save a lot of money on holidays by working nights. 
Hotel rooms are occupied and sold by the night, so he manages to get a good deal by booking them for the day,
and some hotels even cook him a proper English breakfast early evening. 
His only problem is trying to find a good pub that's open about 3am or 4am for lunch.
