P739 stickers

Had these for a couple of days now,general consencious is that they are a waste of our time,2seconds to write "c/o 8/10" on each pkt or letter immediately after putting out the P739,now its anything from 10-20 mins arsing about back in the office,fair enough putting the date on,but walk & initials as well,anyone in our office can tell whose walk it was on just by the address,& who was on that day by the date,granted some don't bother with the c/o & just fire them into the RLE,but it ain't rocket science,suppose some high up exec has earned his pay this month

Lol. We've had these since I started working for RM. You put the stickers on the packets you leave dockets for with initials, date, and walk number on.

I thought every office did this?

I heard of those... we suppose to use them, I don't even know what they look like... =/ are they the one that replaces the N/A N/L that we put on our mail if someone is out? Or are they something else?

you put them on presumably after posting a "sorry your out" 739 card, as opposed to writing the info straight on the packet/letter etc. i can see the benefit of having stickers as there are items which have plastic over it and may have difficulty writing on. if it takes more time then so be it, it adds more time to the revision :P

I've seen them on parcels at other offices, never had them at my office though.

I was told each time the person is out, you stick another one on and you are now required to keep trying for 3 weeks after that. Oh wait... I was thinking about the no access stickers.... what are they called?

They're manly white with a bit of red at the top and ask you for the date, initials, walk number etc. It's basically to endorse the mail/packets as undeliverable.

I've seen them at every office I've worked at but not used them myself for a long time. That's because we didn't have any at my old office for a long time so it's force of habit to just write D/L then initial, walk number and date it myself while I'm on the doorstep. At least then, if I have a senior moment later on, I know I've already attempted delivery.

Been around along time, helps the lost soles in the callers office, would imagine more so in large office's.

I use them, next day it saves loads of time, certainly more than it takes to stick and write, as it makes it really easy for the Packet sorters to spot them and then take the F/L packets/recordeds (and for the locker - specials), down to the callers office.

Its also easier when my cover uses them as obviously I cant remember which ones are from my day off so when sorting I have sometimes missed the FL and noticed till just before I knocked on the door.

We have them in my office but because we have to endorse everything we bring back before we get through the gates they're a bit redundant

Great for us numpties who are forced to work in the locker. We can match the handwriting to the packet when we can't read some posties' handwriting. Especially if it's someone who's not as familiar with the duties as they should be. Example, getting put into the locker after not being in there for a year. We've always used the stickers though, occasionally will get a postie writing on the packet but those are the rarity . I don't think it will take any longer to put a sticker on, after all, surely everything should be dated when it's returned anyhoo? How do they know in your office when to return things if the date isn't on them? I don't see the difference , only now instead of writing p739, u get a wee red sticker that has this printed on it? Even the posties who don't use the p739 stickers, endorse it with p739, duty #, date and their initials.

Yeah these have been about for a long time but havent seen them for ages! I dont think RM promote them as its cheaper just to write on the packet! We were told the correct way to write on a packet etc is N/A (no answer) P739 left, 10/10/10 then your initials.

We don't have and never have had stickers, we just endorse the packet F/L and the date.
