i have one of the biggest scares of my life and now they are carrying out investigation's after nearly 2 months and have suspended me on false allegation about a needle which pricked me whilst stamping mail which had arrived in the mail centre via collection mail as if im not going through enough trauma as it is.
i had to make my own way to hospital there and back no manager suggested lets take him i had the needle with me and now, i face it seems to be on the brink off losing my job i had all the medical reports from hospital and gp there were no witnesses to the needle incident only the people who were in the work area to whom i showed the needle to and to top it off the top boy goes im going get the IB involved and check

So what have you suspended for, What is the reason for the suspension.

Cant give you any advice about your suspension,but can give yo some info about a needle stick injury.

Say around 3 years ago ,a very close relative sustained a needle stick injury,whilst working in a Hospital.

Dont Worry !
The chances of you get something are slim,most of the infections don not last to long out side of the body.
Most people who get infected often work in Casualty,where in needle in a patient, comes out and straight in side of the health workers body .

Sounds to me like the needle would have been out side the persons body at least for a few hours .
If you went to Hospital straight away and had the site of the injury cleaned you are proably oK..

You will need a blood test at 3 months afterwards,and if infected will almost certain to be shown up by then.you will need another test at 6 months,and it is almost unheard of for a positive test to appear if 3 months was clear,and a final test in a year.

Kendo, while I congratulate you on the positive ( and truthful ) nature of your post, what I think Cockney is more worried about is not only does he have to worry about ( marginal ) possibility of a secondary infection, but the extreme pressure he is under from his managers, who think he is pulling a fast one - and while in a few months time he almost certainly will have nothing more medically wrong than a long healed pin prick, he is cacking it that he won't have a job to come back to....all I can offer is speak to your rep & H&S rep, maybe ask for advice in the Union room, and wait and see what replies you get.

Why would they have grounds for suspecting you weren't telling the truth? Not full time by any chance?
