hi folks

i have had anxiety for the past 5 years on and off and am currently experiencing some affects of it now. i have been off meds for about a year now if i see my doctor and he prescibes them again can i take them and still work if i am able to as i dont want to take anytime off.

you need to speak to your doc.

you don't get "sick" notes anymore - you get a "fit" note, which tells you and you're employer what you 'can do' not what you 'can't do'.

is the anxiety work related? if it is, you must inform the employer what the problem is.

You'll probably need to be assessed by ATOS, to cover your Manager's back. But there shouldn't be any problem working whilst on your medication. I'm on a high dose of Antidepressants, and they've let me carry on a work. In fact, you'd be surpised, at just how many of us there are, working at RM with these types of problems, and taking medication we need for it.

If it's a medicine that others are already using, at a simiar dose, somewhere in RM. Then you might not even need to go and see ATOS. But tell your Manaer what you're on, so he/she can contact ATOS, and get them to make the call.
