A Full Row of Absorption.

Our Manager has just come up with a great idea, the absorption walk outside the office takes nearly four hours to deliver, so most of us take out about 37 houses everyday now including Saturdays that takes about Ten to Twenty Minutes , now the toss pot has said from two weeks time four posties take a row each out of the four rows on the frame, that’s your absorption for the week then.
He can take a running jump.
He said they would rotate it of course for the light and heavy days..

There has been a suggestion that in addition to the 6 duties already lapsed there are moves afoot to lapse another 4 - so ten in total. This has apparently been suggested because some have been seen finishing "early" - which would suggest it was a light day, however on the days when they have to book or not take the lapsed work at all it has never been suggested the lapsing should be withdrawn.

Ah yes - it's good to have a caring employer who engages the workforce in planning.

One complete row is way too much and it completely unfair.

On my delivery for example the middle rows are the really big posh houses with the awful long gravel drives which take prob an hour each with the top row about the same, . However the bottom row contains smaller houses and a parade of shops with flats above. That row is a peach and is around 35 mins, so if you got that one your laughing so how can that be fair.

Our manager thinks if absorption will take you over your time then it's your own duty that gets Streamed... I ok!!!! i'll do part of another walk n fcuk my own duty up for myself for the following day by taking out more..

The fact is there should be no absorbtion,flexing,etc.All of RMs problems stem from getting rid of to many staff.That was the reason why they where carried,it"s called contingencey of the service(keeping the customer happy).Not one day delivering at 8 o"clock the next at 3 30.

hi jenny in our office we are asked to dpart the office with our absorbsion .what happened to only absorb if you come back early i see storm clouds on the horizon

Good point but this would mean the managers actually being there when you get back and a my office come 12.30pm onwards thats unlikley

Our Delivery Office Manager told the office on Saturday that the traffic was down this week and it takes no longer that 15 minutes to do our absorption, he then said at 7 45am " everyone who absorbs stop what your doing now and take out your absorption now, then carry on with your break at 8 o clock. that's so it can get covered and he can go home at 11 .00am not stupid is he. He knows full well posties won't bring back 15 minutes of their own walk??
