Call rates for revision purposes.

Post by mailmonkey »

Planner came into our office this week, smarmy fecker , all the usual " I used to be a postie, I know what you guys have to do" etc etc :puke:

Anyway, manager started our WTL by informing us that as it's SO quiet at the moment we've got even more lapsing/absorption/flexing etc to do.

Then planner told us we'd be having to count up all our missed calls for the next couple of weeks so they can get on with the revision. The missed calls will be used to calculate our call rates.

Is this really right that we use call rates on what the manager has already told us is the quietest period?

Union rep says it's fine. :shhhhh ;liar

Not a new trick, in the old days they would hold back the mailsort and only count the live mail.

We have also been told that we must not count d2d's.One minute they are live mail, but when it suits R.M. they are back to being classed as d2d items.Surely if they are in the frame you will be delivering the items,we do the 1/6th as instructed by our gaffer. So they should be counted as far as i am concerned.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

'Union rep says it's fine', This is absolute rubbish, see POSTMANS comments. Just shows you doesn't it? The union are currently working against us. :arrrghhh

Yeah, we have been told this too..the planner said there's no need to count the slots with D2D's in cos the program allows for that anyway...again didn't believe a word of it.

How do we go to Stage 1 disagreement?

Can I initiate a Stage 1 disagreement myself, i left the union over this whole "2010 and beyond" agreement? Partly cos of national issues, and partly cos of our area rep's lack of support for anything

Do I need to rejoin the union? I will if it means we can start working against RM's plans again.

How do we go to Stage 1 disagreement? I think the deputy rep is a bit more sane than our rep.....should I approach him?

Yes!! Rejoin, and contact your ADR asap,he will point you in the right direction.

You wont be able to issue a disagreement without your reps backing will you?

If the rep is in agreement with RM can the Area rep over ride the situation?

I read on here all the time, i've gone over the agreement many times, i know things are not being implemented correctly in our office.

As far as I can see our Area rep seems to be willing to let tings go as they are

to maybe clear things up. i have a friend who is a planner and i asked how the call rates are worked out...here is the explanation in laymans and my terms. the call rate for revisions is calculated through the a mech analysis plan which is input into the indoor workload tool to average the % of mail that each walk gets on an average week. this is then used as part of pegasus/georoute where each indivual walks has this % put into it with a calculated overide to allow for a sixth a day of d2d example is a walk with a x% call rate has an overide of y% giving a z% call rate for that walk including d2d...this is then calculated into the various parts of geo calculations prior to importing into a georoute scenario.....yes it was as clear as mud to me as it may be to some who read this.he did a dummy run on my walk and i have to say it was quite accurate as my walk according to the current aplus takes 3 hours 18 minutes which is about right give or take 5 mins. and georoute said it should take 3.15

Since we were all complaining to the planner that D2D's should be counted as they are now "live mail" he's decided that, yes, we SHOULD count slots with just D2D's in for call rate purposes....

This despite him giving us a load of fudge 2 days previous about how the computer program allows for the D2D's....

So obviously just lying, not a mix up, just lying.....they'll try anything on, if it's unchallenged they'll push it through....
