Okay; we realise it's not the best deal..
... in this world or any other world.
But; we are where we are.
I am not a Union Member.
The Union negotiated a 'deal' that basically they thought they had to. A bit with a gun to the head ; but in all honesty they probably got the best deal available.
I know that this is open to much debate (and has been).People are winners and losers ( and don't you hate that term).
But..... as a workforce we are own worst enemies.
Given the chance to put D2D into workload...we don't want to. We want to continue as before!!
We still want to rush around and make time so we can leave early!!! How the f*ck does that work?
We accept Local Agreements that change the agreed model ; so that we can make time and go home early (I know it's a repeat)
Young Guns run; so that they can finish early and brag about it.
The DOMS laugh as they absorb more and more.
We go faster so that absorption can be done.
We moan that 'some people are not doing their extra'
In my office some changes are coming in the next week or so , that will mean that everybody works their time , takes their breaks and does full hours.
Cue the squealing.
We are our own worst enemy.
As an example. My duty today had 23 signed fors. So, that took a while. When I got back to the office (and I started an hour earlier that the rest , because of the nature of the duty) most had already finished and gone home. We have a shed load of Mags in. None of them were touched. Tomorrow will be fun.
The end

It is time for people to switch mindsets and work as though it were in a shop or factory. If they don't there will be more pain to come, for them and those isolated few doing it properly. A poor reflection on humanity that we can't stick together for the greater good.pokos27 wrote:its still a better job, compared to working in a shop or factory.

Royal Mail managers.....about as popular as a t.urd in a swimming pool!
The DDA/Equality Act demands action,NOT words......adjustments NOT Occupational Health referrals.Case No:2505901/09
Royal Mail is an Equal Opportunities Employer..It discriminates against everybody.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun.
And when at last the work is done. Don't sit down, it's time to dig another one

last year while delivering in the pouring rain i was stopped by a council worker who used to work as a postman and he couldn't wait to tell me what a rubbish job it was and how he wouldn't go back for anything. fair enough you might say. what was his new job, he was emptying dog crap buckets beside a local playing field. i kid you not.

Re: Okay; we realise it's not the best deal..
Tbf,what would of happened if we did not strike,we did not negotiate,we did not have a union?
RM had a business plan, they wanted it in whether we liked it or not!
We wouldn't of stopped MC closures,CDV's,WSM's and the like.
As a business they have a right 'within reason' to do what they want with THEIR business, just like you would with YOUR business.
Their plan did not take us with them,it was 'it's my ball we play whatever game i like.'
Negotiations softened the blow, yes it's hard to believe but it did.
The world's a s**t hole,especially when money is concerned.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Okay; we realise it's not the best deal..
Many of the points you make are true, the problem for me and I suppose many others,is the pretence that it was somehow a "negotiated" settlement. A settlement that took 5 months and a three ring circus to persuade the members to accept. The fact that a union could accept a winners and losers scenario for its members is shameful. This deal is only the latest in a long list of abject failure in negotiating any reasonable conclusion including the pension - somehow people seem to have forgotten the promised ballot, the removal of the financial support for the labour party, the extra five years of work.POSTMAN wrote:Tbf,what would of happened if we did not strike,we did not negotiate,we did not have a union?

In conclusion I accept the failures through circumstance but the duplicity and pretence I cannot accept.

I think down stream access, is so vile. Tescos love it.
Its screwed conditions for new employees.
Has anyone got a 39 week yet, when do these 39 hours come it.
The D2D thing should not have been allowed until wsm and walks, based on 39 week.
The EU has a mandate to destroy royal mails revenue.
Is the meal relief next and sa payments.
