Same at my office. Just do as you please. No guidance whatsoever. Management and CWU uninterested.
Absolutely typical of this job. Wait until the Tories sell us off, there'll be some changes then.

our frames have been marked or notes on frame stating what has to be done each day,
office voted to do 20% a day................even though it was pointed out sat should be a normal day
BUT NO TIME ADDED TO PREP OR DELIVER, at team talk today i asked this question and with rep sitting next to him nodding approval he said as in summer savings with lower mail volumes we should be able to manage to do the extra work in our duty times...........as luck would have it i got no D2D this week,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,friggin 4 next week

We have marked out the frames in my office into 16% sections running top left to bottom right as per the agreement. We have also been told in no uncertain terms you have to complete your 16% that day including dead drops.
The Dom has told everyone that if they get caught out not going to all the calls on their 16% section they will be putting themselves up for willfull delay.
This is being enforced by the DSM and he has warned managers if they don't enforce it they will be putting thier own heads on the chopping block.
If doing dead walking and preping takes us past our finish time them we can claim overtime or breakoff so long as we tell the manager before we leave.
My manager was telling me today that a manager in a nearby office who never enforced the above and allowed one of the postmen to do all his D2D on Mon & Tues this week was called in and given the fifth degree by the DSM,
the same manager has also been told to take action against the postman and conduct code him for not following a reasoably request from his manager as he was told at a wtl what was expected when it came to D2D.
Now i know alot of people will say that dead walking and 16% a day is stupid but at least this way we are getting the time to deliver and prep them, giving people the chance to do less lapseing so thats why we do it in my DO.

When a revision takes place then DTD will be incorprated into the planning so as to ensure there is time to prep and deliver.

Absorption of DTD in the meantime is allowed but has to be backed up by proof that its possible.

Duties whose net working hours are not being exceeded by the duty holder/performer at this moment in time will not need any extra time untill DTD increases beyond any time available.

We are in a interim period for DTD and there is still some way to go before all aspects of the new DTD agreement kick in.

I would remind those of you who are grumbling about your fellow OPG's doing, more than a 1/6th a day that its a minium not a maxium of 1/6th a day.

Daz this is what has been agreed by DSM and Area Rep for my Region

You are only allowed to do !6% a day and must mark out your frame from top right to bottom left. Everyone has to do it this way so that its uniform across the Region, and everyone knows where they stand.

========================================================================================================================================================================================================

How we manage Door to door in our office

• All deliveries will deliver any D2D items for their walk as part of regular workload.
• The number of items/ contracts will increase over time, in a phased way.
• Arrivals of D2D items must form part of the mandatory weekly resource meetings.
• Pouches must not exceed the weight limit as displayed in your unit.
• D2D mail will be on the frame by the start of duty each Monday. Designated duties to be identified to distribute items arriving each Saturday.
• Prep and deliver 1/6th of the D2D mail each day Including dead drops, starting each Monday with completion each Saturday . (See attached sheet)
• D2D items should be placed last into the prep frame after any walk sequenced or manual mails.
• All D2D should be delivered in line with product specification, by the required date of the contract.
• Items not being delivered that day should be stored neatly in boxes or trays beneath your prep frame.
• Everyone will complete a walk control sheet confirming D2D delivery.
• All surplus items are to be handed back to your line manager at the end of each week. The number returned will be recorded and remedial action will be taken, where required.
• Any issues experienced during the bedding in period (7/06/2010 to 22/06/2010) that cannot be resolved locally are to be raised immediately for resolution between the DSM and Area CWU Representative.

• Each prep fitting is to be split, by the walk holder into 6 equal parts. (Number of delivery points e.g. 660 divided by 6 equals 110 to be delivered daily.
• Starting at the top left of your prep frame and working from left to right count the delivery points, in the case above 110 and place a sticky dot. Continue this process until you reach the end of your frame in the bottom right hand corner.
• From Monday prep and deliver 1/6th of D2D Mail starting from the top left of your frame. Delivery of D2D items are to be completed with the final 1/6th being delivered on Saturday.
• It is extremely important that you all follow this process to ensure your day off cover duty delivers the correct 1/6th depending on your day off.
• Please note, Bank Holiday weeks: 1/5th of delivery points are to be delivered per day.
• If you feel you are unable to complete your delivery by your scheduled completion time, in line with normal requirements overtime is to be agreed with your line manager prior to departure.
• If a delivery is on absence overtime. The overtime volunteer is accountable for delivering the D2D mail due on that day.
• Where a walk is prepped for a bag carrier, by an individual performing a double prep, the D2D is to be prepped for the bag carrier in line with the above requirements of 1/6th per day.

Our office totally by the book, most of us want to get them out the way sooner, leaving saturday d2d free, or prep them in on a monday and deliver through the week as we used to, but we've been told very strictly it MUST be done by the rules above TO THE LETTER....we not allowed any autonomy on this.

Our revision has started. So far our Rep has had 0 training; 0 guidance or advice ; but on the plus side 0 input into the revision  So much for full cwu involvement in the workplace

Belial you come from a Branch who rejected the agreement and got your members to reject it ( one of the few who did ) so hats off for that. But why is your office and indeed Branch allowing this to happen.

I am not sure if you come under the Thames Valley management region or the South West Regional management team but if it is the Thames Valley then I have involvement with them and in the area I cover they are abiding by the agreement.

Including the workshop and all aspects of the agreement.

Can I suggust you contact your divisional rep if managment are trying to conduct the revision without any involvement as that is simply unacceptable.

New IWT has still not been agreed as far as i know, they must still be working on timings or something. It was ment to be agreed by this Monday 21/6/10 but my manager has had nothing in about it.
And before anyone says how do you know, well since this new open ways of working came in and since i have been asking about the new IWT, he comes and gets me before he
turns on his comp to read his emails so i can see whats been sent out to him and even opens any i want him too, so we can both read anything that may be of interest.
I don't know how this new ways of working is in other offices, but i have to admit, My manager has been quite strangly open and honest since we went to the workshop,
so at the moment i am giving him the benifit of the doubt ! and will see where it goes from here.

tolkien wrote:in our office the new way of doing the D2D have been totally ignored by the DOM with a few doing it by the book ie 16 % a day , some doing all in one hit , some taking it out like live mail as instructed by the cwu ,some leaving it in the frame untill they are calling at that house ,
but the main thing is that the DOM has refused to allow us any extra time to prep it in the morning and extra time to deliver them , keeping us on the sorting as long as usual and not letting us out any earlier , the rep is usless keeping his head down and not rocking the boat as he has the usual easy duty , the frames have not even been marked to show what needs to be done each day so how the H-ll people are expected to come in to a different duty each day and know what has been prepped,

i know of at least 2 deliveries that have had the same d2d twice in the same streets in the same week just because the postie was a differant one each day and did not know whatg had been done

me i am doing it by the book 4 D2D each 16% and booking OT each day , so what is happening out there any one doing them correctly or is the the same crap deal every where ??
I am a union rep and i had to register a disagreement after managers went back on the way we were going to apply the new workload. All the frames have been marked up and we take in theory a fifth a day except Tuesday when we take two fifths. However a lot of members take them all on a Monday which totally defeats the object. Another problem i have is DOMS are not including the new workload in their traffic figures. I do this myself, and also get the new traffic [D2D] figures a week in advance so i can identify any potential problems esp when members are doing absorption torwards the end of the week. DOMS attitude has been just get on with it you have the time .so its up to all of us to do the job properly and prove at least on some occasions that we have not.On average a 500 call walk with 3 contracts should have approx 15mins indoor and 12 mins outdoor. Hope this helps.
