I would have said under the 2007P&M agreement that the answer would have been Yes it would have been included in the 3.5 hour delivery span.

However, under the new 2010 deal where delivery span is an "enabler " (Whatever that means) then the answer changes to a NO. Especially with the Work All Paid Hours part of the 2007 agreement in the mix as well.


Regrettably, and in this case I pray I am wrong, as long as you can do what they asked within your contracted hours, and you have been trained for it, then I am afraid yes they can do this.

You know what to do now though don't you. Use their rules to make your job more manageable and safer fir yourself. Work hard but within the rules.

gat an agreement from last weeks union meeting, bob g says lapsing is cancelled for next 2 weeks, for input from reps and traffic calculations, showed it to lino the day, his answer, as expected- lapsing is going ahead as usual, rep puts in disagreement, so what, nothing changes.
doesnt matter what is agreed , the business does what it wants, in my office, some delys are under 2 hours, so 15 mins lapsing is neither here nor there, some delys , mines inc, are 3 hours 10, and ive to do a bit that takes 45 mins.

Great advise up top regardless of the 3.5 hr del span lapsing can only be done were time exists you either have time or you dont.

There is so much confusion each year surrounding lapsing that it gets on my nerves ive now given up speaking to the branch on this matter so i dont bore them and bore myself.

Why the fecking union ever agreed to lapsing is beyond me i fecking hate it.

Why do you lot rush around doing lapsing, if they make you take it do without rushing, then when you get back inform your DOM that because of lapsing you won't have time to complete your own walk and will be leaving some in the office. If everybody did this as we did at our office, you won't do it.

I wouldnt say "take your time" i would say do the job properly.....There is a big difference.If you take your time and dawdle and take the piss , then if ever you are timed , it could go against you, but , on the other hand if you get into the habit of doing the job as it should be done , then it should take you up to your finishing time anyway...simple

Dblad just a bit of info for you and others that are not aware .

You dont get a ruling (instruction) on your own walk if you have to lapse if you need an instruction then you shouldnt have to lapse.

Had a senario in our office the other week Dom informed a postie he was to leave his top row of his own walk to lapse .Went in informed the Dom on the guidelines for lapsing he soon retracted his instruction to the postie concerned. Dont let them blag you by making you take an instruction to lapse its not agreed.
