summer lapsing ,yes or no??

Can anyone tell me should this summer lapsing be happening this year along with all the other changes

There is currently a duty being lapsed and has been for over a year.in our division

They are now going ahead with lapsing plans for the summer,

On top we are apparently gonna be the first office to go through all these agreed changes,starting aug.

we have been "summer lapsing" 3 duties in our office......only thing is we have been doing it all year!!!!! we got a 2 week break for the election. But apart from that we have been doing it mon - fri every flipping week!!!!!

We will be lapsing 3 duties in my office. All driver duties from the CDV's, don't know how the walkers are going to get to their duties

It is a little bit of a misnomer to say "summer lapsing", it isn't, it is now part and parcel of those duties who carry it out. Just one more of those itsy bitsy problems too trivial to be addressed. It seems to fall under, there is only eight hours in a day. True there is, but there is eight hours and eight hours under duress, as many on this forum in deliveries will have witnessed.

The good news however, is that with a sequenced revision using geo-route the deliveries are supposed to be equal and take up all the time available and so lapsing should be a thing of the past - well until it is decided that geo route has been undersold and suddenly there is another 10% in shortfall.

I agree, I do the job properly and have only done lapsing twice since last August

were going to refuse it 53% ft/ 47% pt ratio in our office no time
extra d2d longer spans pkts recdeds and spcls etc no time gonna be fun
will pt still come in 2 hrs early

All walks are budgeted for so you lapsing are saving your office money for that walk, your working harder to give your dom and others a bigger bonus.

It is now known as 'Seasonal' lapsing in our office and we have 4 walks being lapsed Mon and Tues every week. I don't mind, I just turn up on time, take my meal relief and come back on time. If I cut off or bring stuff back, tough! Only 8 hours in a day people and yes, my esteemed colleague is right. Every duty lapsed is a duty that could be covered by a person so in effect you are saving your DOM money and he earns a bigger bonus. So, if you come in early, run around and go over your time and not get paid for it (as there is no pressure overtime) good on ya. Nice work CHUMP

It doesn't make a lot of difference if you do the job properly.
If the capacity plan shows that the indoor hours are more than the volume of mail requires then lapsing is inevitable.
Question the traffic. Question the standards used to calculate the indoor hours required.
Of course everyone should do the job properly.
But "doing the job properly" isn't an answer to the problem of excess indoor hours.

Wrong - Budgets are made up using various measures, work hours , gross hours - 5% , traffic decline etc, i think it more than likely
goes back to all Paid for hours worked. Traffic does decline in summer along with your units budget - SIMPLES
