When will Cars be officially banned?

The Agreement states.....

"All delivery revisions will be planned on the basis of no use of private cars.
Private cars on delivery will cease upon the deployment of a Delivery Methods revision in a unit."

So it's when you get your delivery methods revision not walksequence revision unless the two happen at the same time as will happen in ours..

My understanding is as soon as the delivery methods revision is adopted then the tools provided are mandatory use.
So park and loop and HCTs put on a delivery then cars prohibited.

The only decent part of the agreement.

I have my opinion on this and that is that postmen will still use there cars except it will be at your own risk. Its says in the agreement that cars will cease but if a postman does want to use his car I bet managers won't stop them and turn a blind eye to it which of course suits them cos it saves a dam load of money.

What do you think banning cars actually achieves , apart from pleasing 'jobsworths'.
'Working your hours' as set out by our great Union will only kill our job and make it worse.
The Union needs soem fresh ideas. Working cars into the job would have actually made things better , aslong as it was done properly of course.

I read in the Courier last month about the new ways of working and in one case study it said that the paople concerned delivered the large packets as they went around their walk,they did this it said to save them from going back to the DO.
So that being the case if you go to work in your car but the person you work with takes the van home allowing him to go straight home when finished,( because as he said all large parcels delivered so they don't have to go back to the DO)does that mean you would be able to take your car out to the first point of delivery,leaving it there and doing the walk from that point in the van.Then when you have finished providing there is nothing left to take back to the DO the driver drops you off back at your car from where you go home and he does the same but in the van???

personally, me using my car on any duty doesn't get the duty done any faster, so makes no difference to anyone else, just means i don't need to wait around for the van to take me out or hang about waiting for my 2nd bag.

The way I've been told it is, you will be picked up and brought back to the office at the end of your shift. Can't see this happening though tbh.

But impersonally it does make a difference to someone else because someone used to be paid to take you and your bags out.

I think cars should be banned on delivery,I would never use my car on delivery for the following reasons:

1) People are saying how poor this deal is (and i agree) because we are in affect losing money, yet people are willing to spend their own money on petrol to do their job. Would you walk into your D.O.M's office every monday and give them £20 to let you work for Royal Mail? I dont think so but isn't this essentially what you're doing by using your own car to do the job?

2) If you use your car on delivery and take your second bags out with you then you're putting drivers jobs at risk because managers will see "fred" the driver going out with hardly any second bags because the posties have taken them out in their cars and think hmmm "fred's" not got much on his duty I can get rid of that duty, the manager will just give his remaining work to other drivers. So by taking your own second bags out in your car you're putting drivers job's at risk AND putting more work onto remaining drivers.

3) People are saying if they dont use thier cars then they cant get their duty completed, well then you cut off. You dont get paid to use your car so why use it to complete a delivery that is unachievable.
