NO, Not an option!

Post by Postbot »

Had our meeting today with the office rep, lacking in detail in the main much like W.T.L. yesterday. Essentially the advice was to accept the deal although it's a shocker cos there aint one better coming (no plan b?) and to take the jam (colleague share) today and not tomorrow.

I actually had the manager this morning state it's a poor deal for delivery staff this morning whilst higher echelon's of the C.W.U. are pushing it through total madness, so it seems we all agree it's a poor deal yet!!! are advised to accept.

Surely this cannot be the case a reasounding 'NO' must surely make someone take notice?

The rep reckons it will all be pushed through anyway regardless of the vote outcome so take your pennies now , I personally will be voting NO have no problems with the idea of change if it is needed, however we are massively busy in our office 2-3 packet sacks per day can count on one hand the times a year I take less than 3 d2d's, maybe in other areas this isn't the case and that is where the extra work is needed?

Seems to me the worst aspect aside losing money in the guise of a payrise is the lack of any limits at all in the agreement cap lifted on d2d's and delivery spans, presumably we are supposed to trust RM will not take the piss out of this!!!!

Rep also said the d2d's being date sensitive is not in the agreement, yet when I asked the manager if you still want longs and shorts why is Saturday one of the long days, his reason was exactly the d2d's designed specifically tailored for saturdays when ppl will be at home eating their breakfast when they land on the doorstep, pmsl at 3pm presumably.

I feel that the strikes only served to get the C.W.U. back into the picture which would be great if they actually used that to argue our case nbot so they could push RM'S a seems the case now, managers in WTL sessions need not have any details on the deal or try to sell it to us as the C.W.U. are on it for them.

Would have been acceptable if the union had just stated we are in a weak position and for now this is the best we can do, and be open to the public what this really means to your postie instead of letting it look as if we are getting a payrise, we are not stupid and can see this however the public will not be looking naturally as deeply into the deal only the headline facts given.

Our rep is leaving soon and I would love to get involved not sure ecxactly whats involved but also wouldn't want to part of an extension to RM whilst pretending to be aiding the workforce.

I'm hopeful the rest in the office will not follow the rep's advice but fear after today many will just follow the line given,we are screwed anyway so may as well get a few quid first for our trouble.

Agreed that the deals main focus is to get CWU in the workplace permanently.

This begs the question of whether its worth having a union present that consistantly sells out its members.

Probably not.

This deal is cack, no matter how the RM/CWU management team dress it up, pure cack.

What have postal workers gained? In what way have our terms & conditions been enhanced? How are postal workers to be rewarded fairly for having delivered yet another profit-making year?
Three questions each and every postal worker must ask themselves having first read this shambolic agreement, and before casting their vote.

I have an open mind to almost everything, but no talk in the world will convince me to vote yes. You'd have to be crazy to vote this in.None of our concerns have been addressed....none.This was never about money until it was made about money.

It's a s**t deal.

I know it,you know it,the cwu know and royal mail sure as f**k know it.

Vote no.

The future of RM when no vote comes in. CWU sidelined, Parliament push through privatisation. Pay freeze, individual units strike, 3 weeks later after lockouts members go back, no public support, no TUC support. RM push through changes with scant regard to members working conditions. VRs given out with minimum payouts, a take or leave it offer on displacement, D2D put into workload without payment, compulsory redundancies with minimum pay outs and the list goes on!

Exactly how I see this going if it's a no vote...everyone goes on about the Union not doing this and that, but if they were not there at all...we would all be f*cked, there has to be a yes vote and if everyone can remember how to do the job properly it wont be long before the problems start rolling in and then you can sort it out :dance

Yes, very depressing, everyone lost out from the long strike in 1971, an 86% vote last year didn't do us a lot of good, few have much enthusiasm for striking anymore, no public support this time, no plan B, we're all doomed.

If they were not there we'd be f****d. I think you'll find this deal is the biggest shafting we've ever had!

If we vote yes the company is FAR MORE LIKELY to be privatised! Imagine a workforce unable to say no to extra work, doing it for no extra money. That's what this deal means and the extra revenue from d2d will make RM a far far more attractive proposition than now. Vote NO and vote for better conditions. We are less likely to be bought by TNT if we aren't screwed into the ground for every ounce of profit for the balance sheet.

Why don't all you defeatists just lie down and let RM stamp all over you. Where has all the fight gone. Would we have let RM take money off us without a fight before, NO so why now. We can't just let them say take it or leave and if we don't take it we lose. If we vote no and lose the D2D money then all of us should just refuse to deliver them.

Dont you get it?

If this deal goes through then privatisation WILL happen SOONER.

More work and less pay makes us more attractive to outside investment. A weak workforce willing to roll over is great for the likes of TNT et al. Add to that the Govt supposedly dealing with the pensions and its a definite fire sale.

Vote NO and send them back to get a better deal. - like the retention of existing D2D payments for those that do them.

Shadow: you should pick and choose when to fight and when to tactically retreat. Otherwise you lose all the time!
