Royal Mail has explored various resourcing models for operations in a mechanised environment and in conjunction with the CWU has concluded that the best model is a flexible workforce, predominantly full time supported by part time employees. The mix of full time and part time is planned to be around three quarters full time and one quarter part time by 2013. The exact ratio will vary locally depending on the current local mix, needs and employee preferences. Full time employees will retain full time status unless they volunteer to move to part time hours. Part time employees will be entitled to retain their existing contractual hours if they wish.
Ok here goes,at the mo according to Dingo there are already 21% part timers in RM.
So with natural wastage,EVR's and the like,it wouldn't (shouldn't)be a living hell to get to 25%.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Without it kicking off with a north/south thing, there are hardly any in Lon..............at the mo anyway.

Well we have been told by DOM that no one will be given 40 hour contracts
woof woof
when i read the deal, like most of it, it can be read both ways like the deal in 2007
local unit reads it as referring to the office, RM come back with oh no it's national!
does anybody know if there are any figures/estimates for buy downs and evr etc..? it would be interesting to have a look as as you say postman 4% shouldn't be to hard to achieve by natural wastage.
id love for it to not be the case but personally i just cant see the 75/25 figure making that much of a difference to the way it is now.
2 offices that i know and we're up in Scotland, is 1 is 55% full time 45% part time, could be a 60/40 split but i'm sure its the first one the other is 70% full time 30% part time,
the question (well one of them) is the 75/25 a national target, and offices could be 50/50 with other offices 80/20 etc etc and then the national figure is met overall?
both offices mentioned have had exec action and the pegasus review in,

Thats my understanding of it yes. as long as the 75/25 is met nationally local levels will play no part.

The truth is there is nothing in the wording that makes this ratio legally binding for individual offices and there's nothing to suggest the situation is even going to be monitored, it is worth nothing more than a 'gentleman's agreement'

so the 75% full time to 25% part time in this new deal means agreed in the country not locally like the rest of the deal
The exact ratio will vary locally depending on the current local mix, needs and employee preferences. I'm guessing that your office could have 60/40 my office 90/10 BUT nationally 75/25.
According to my 1st post.

One way RM could achieve that ratio is to sack 5% of full timers presto 75:25
Can't find anything in the agreement that says how this will be implemented across functions, so DO's be wary. Some DO's already operate perfectly well(in RM's opinion) with a 50:50 ratio. Does anybody really think that RM won't roll this out.Watch your inward sorting times go through the roof, and remember to prep those PT walks with all those lovely D2D's as well

Same here.

I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?
