why i am supporting the deal
i do get a pay rise along with thousands of others
the d2d work is going into workload and therefore protects jobs
i perform duties that used to attract extra allowances that were taken away and shared, such as nda on overtime and saturday premium , to name just a couple, but which personally cost me thousands
this deal was called the way forward and the do staff scored massively.i never heard the do people say it as a rubbish deal for eveyone else and therfore it should be a no vote
i believe this deal paves the way for some stability within royal mail and we can now face the future with more confidence.
you can shout me down if you like - i still care about royal mail , i am the breadwinner in the family, and have 30yrs seniority.
i have still over 20yrs working till i retire and i would like to spend them at royal mail
i urge you to think further than d2d payments and vote yes

Re: why i am supporting the deal
We are thinking about more than D2D we are thinking
Later saturdays
increased workloads on contracts with already insufficient time
increased time on delivery
call rates
pro rata payments again and again
I take it you are full time? They stand to lose, just substantially less.

Yes quite - turn the lights off on your way out - if you've 30 years in and more than 20 years to go you must have been working for RM whilst still at school - do the mathsmudger83 wrote:i do get a pay rise along with thousands of others

no it wasnt the last pay deal, it was way, way before that, the 'one' when we had massive i/a in the mid 90s. The one when we as a membership lost vast amounts of money, due to afore said industrial action, to enable people that were not paid very well to enjoy a greater take home pay. of course people joining after this date also enjoy the massive pay rise delivery staff got .
can i assume you havnt much time in royal mail, and are not to sure to which of the many pay deals we have experienced, that i was referring to.
please feel free to ask, if you need anything more clarified.

Re: why i am supporting the deal
Yes I was wrong on that score because I had forgotten the rising retirement age - I just hope you will be able to manage the 80 lots of D2D a day when you're 67 and as for turning the lights out? you will probably be the only bloke working at what was Royal Mail by thensmudger83 wrote:im 46 the oap age is changing - maths done, please feel free to ask, if you need anything more clarified.dvbuk55 wrote:Yes quite - turn the lights off on your way out - if you've 30 years in and more than 20 years to go you must have been working for RM whilst still at school - do the mathsmudger83 wrote:i do get a pay rise along with thousands of others

and as for 80 lots of d2d- well you cant be forced to work more than 48 hrs per week - unless you want todvbuk55 wrote:Yes I was wrong on that score because I had forgotten the rising retirement age - I just hope you will be able to manage the 80 lots of D2D a day when you're 67 and as for turning the lights out? you will probably be the only bloke working at what was Royal Mail by thensmudger83 wrote:im 46 the oap age is changing - maths done, please feel free to ask, if you need anything more clarified.dvbuk55 wrote:Yes quite - turn the lights off on your way out - if you've 30 years in and more than 20 years to go you must have been working for RM whilst still at school - do the mathsmudger83 wrote:i do get a pay rise along with thousands of others

Re: why i am supporting the deal
I don't have a problem with people voting YES, but i'm hoping people aren't voting because of the D2D issue. I'm looking at it at every angle. Pension, walk sizes and bullying and harassment issue. And their is many other issues.
1) Our pension is still not sorted, who is plugging the hole, no one yet. Our pension gets less and less. Less money mean longer working. And our pension will be very poor.
2) D2D - 10 d2ds are worth £80 + not £20 which we are being offered. And who gets the profits, the government and the fat cats running RM, not the footsoldiers.
3) Allowances will be taken, just because only one at the moment it won't be long before they are all taken.
4) The money being offered is what we are already due. Big conn.
The list goes on and on and on................
Voting Yes is sticking your head in the sand, Voting No is sending a message to our union and RM that the deal isn't worth the paper written on. Remember when the Tories gain power, expect to privatised and everything will change.

It may of been a fiasco but deliveries voted it in he has a point when he says delivery staff werent pushing for a no vote then.People who vote no to this one should of voted no to the way forward aswell. Both deals are crap arent they really.IPS wrote:We are thinking about more than D2D we are thinking

With the tories coming to power looking extremley likley shall we just not bother voting at all then on the paydeal??steven100 wrote:I don't have a problem with people voting YES, but i'm hoping people aren't voting because of the D2D issue. Re: why i am supporting the deal
In my opinion we're stuck between a rock and a s**t place as if the deal doesnt do through what do you think will happen???? will royal mail just say ok nevermind??? no they will bring it in anyway & we will get nothing.
Lets just get on with it- after all you can only work your hours & take the pay that goes with it.

Re: why i am supporting the deal
48hrs in the European maximum, if you want to work longer than that you must sign and hand to your supervisor an opt out. Of course you do not need to work past your contracted hours.
The two are separate things altogether.
