Pre-packaged D2D = 1 D2D ?

Surely if we get five D2Ds prepackaged in a sleeve then we only get payed 1.75p per address.

If RM really intend on putting them in sleeves then paying us £20.60 would be a bad idea. Most posties will loose early shift allowance when they start at 7am (at least I did anyway) and current D2D rates haven't changed since they began. Giving us £20.60 - not pensionable but linked to pay rises - would be a bad move for RM in the long term.

I suppose we'll have a new agreement in a couple of years where they take those benefits back again in exchange for a little propaganda(?)

A fair days pay for a fair days work applies to everyone and this d2d crap is a bit more detailed than that.

I can't see all the d2ds being in a sleeve because as soon as the sleeve is picked up by the customers they'll probably put the sleeve straight into the bin without even looking at any.

Just what I was thinking, at least when you deliver 1 D2D item it may catch the customers eye, but with a whole pack will they even bother opening it?

Do you really think the individual businesses would be happy to see them in a sleeve? If the answer is yes ,why have nt we done it before?
The majority of businesses would like to see them delivered separately , not forgetting that competitors do just that,but not for long when royal mail undercuts them.

It will happen eventually, RM will not pay hundreds and thousands in man hours prepping 7-8 door to door every day. While there are few D2D, it will be economical for us to get paid to prep them together. When there are many, they will prepack them. Customers will put up with it because no one will get anywhere near the price that RM will be able to deliver them for......

Why hasn't D2D been all lumped together in one sleeve up to now? Maybe, because we only ever did a maximum of three lots of the shyte a week, so, there wasn't any need. With up to seven lots per walk, our DOs are going to resemble the black hole of Calcutta on binmen day.
At least putting all the shyte into one sleeve will help keep the DOs clear of litter.

From a totally commercial perspective, it would make sense to bundle together in one sleeve, we get a payment based on weight (current system)
the business could still increase contracts,thus revenue, this single item could then be built into workload, regardless of contract everyone is
paid per item like now, in theory everyone then should be happy.

The only other point i would make is that the sleeve would need to be clear as the current rules state that items should not be placed inside
one another prior to delivery, so if the items were placed inside a non clear envelope then maybe some customers would not want this service.
However a customer could still pay extra to have the item delivered to the same spec as now, with a separate payment to the post person helping to maintain earnings.

CWU policy was simple, DTD in workload (which means being able to deliver within scheduled weekly hours) or no agreement to lift cap.
