Well seem you are good with getting things down in writing so write a report on what happened, a bit like you just have done hand a copy to your lino and make a copy for your rep and DOM, Tell them first thing you feel you can only do light duties tomorrow, and if nothing comes of it get in touch with your local cwu branch and put in a grievance.
Well thats what i would do.

Re: Hurt in fall today - advice needed please tonight
Our dom is running the office under strict health and safety guidance communicating with other doms in the area before final decisions are made. Your dom should be very worried. When i asked our dom if we would be able to go out and deliver some today as paths that were in the sun the day before had thawed. (wen were kept in the day before) he said he had to be so careful as all it would take would be one accident and he would be in trouble the buck stops with him. In the event at 10 am he said that if we felt that we could deliver some of our walk safely then to take some out, making pouch bags half the normal weight and Not walking on icy areas as under health and safety we are responsible for ourselves too and should not make silly decisions. One area i took was iced over and i slipped once you can be sure i will not be going down there tomorrow in these conditions. One person got a van stuck and was in trouble as the dom said he went against advice in going there. So you see we have to be careful as they can find us blameworthy even wearing the correct uniform as we are all responsible for our own safety by law aswell. Your line managers are bullies and youneed to call their bluff and refuse to go on unsafe areas. A couple of our lads have stayed indoors because their walks are unsafe.
As far as reporting the accident. We dont need a dom to be in to do a report. We make sure its done next day but should be done at earliest opportunity. My advice is to say,'I anticipated this so i have put the details in writing for you' Make a statement tonight, copy it at work on the copier before handing it over, in front of witnesses even better. The more people that do this the more seriously they will take your health and safety. Bearing in mind how rough you feel, aching ribs etc and the idiots are expecting you to do the walk in the exact same span i would think about going sick anyway. You will not be able to go on like this but only you can change it.
Can you refuse to go out on it? probably but it would be best to ask for a risk assesment and take lino to a spot where you fell put bag on his shoulder and ask him to proceed (at pace he expects you to aswell).
This is how it should work
our dom was bombarded with what ifs and he said : Take out as little or as much as you feel is safe. If you get out there and it looks dodgy dont do it you are not going to get hung for bringing mail back in these conditions.
In these days of litigation im surprised your managers are so blase. Thats why theyre not letting you out on bikes but you can cycle in on your own bike. Same as wearing a helmet, on their bikes they are responsible for you and similarly on your delivery they have a duty of care. remind them of it.
One last thing. Its never been in our favour but we can only appeal accident on duties at a stage three. Let them issue any stages but make sure you keep notes during the time.

Same here...Going in with Rep as Manager wouldn't "ERICA" my recent trip, as I was "too late" - in their considered opinion - at 20hrs after the event. ( You're allowed 6 months by the way.)
My original posting is on the Blue Shirts part.
So, I'm expecting some fireworks, but RM Managers CANNOT over-ride Health and Safety Laws, Dept of Work and Pension Rules and Dept of Employment Laws, even if it makes their lives easier!

You should definitely demand light duties tomorrow, and you should definitely write a report and keep a copy, dated, for yourself. Pretty much what you have written here would do. That fall could be serious. You need to make sure it is recorded in case of future ill-health as a consequence. This is very bad management. I went out today but only did half my walk, at half the speed. It was too dangerous otherwise. If we are responsible for our own safety, then we can also refuse to do anything we consider unsafe. If there's any pressure tomorrow write a grievance. They have to pay attention to anything that is written down and dated as this is evidence. Unwitnessed conversations are not.

****ing a***hole !
Get it reported to the Social as a Industrial Injury and tip the Health & Safety Executive / Council Environmental Health off - see if that ****hole laughs at that
If youv'e got any bruises etc get them photographed - there will be EXIF data that goes with the image file - if your trousers are scuffed or damaged in any way - take a picture of that too

Diamonds must come out of your DOM'S ass!.Jimmy Carr`s laugh wrote:Our office is always top of that budget list thing based on office savings - we never get anything ! Even have to take our old uniform in to show them that we need knew stuff, always short of elastics, even got told a while back to use redirection bags for every redirection so we use just the 1 sticker to save the budget.
Just an update, went to work today, went to see manager (DOM off) and I said what about yesterday , and he just said get on flats, see me later. Ready to go at 8:20 and he was on a conference call , usually takes him 40 mins or so every saturday, he`d just started it and I wasnt waiting around. I`ll get it sorted on Monday when I go in.
The same place where I fell yesterday, there was another accident today, well about 10yds away. 90YR old bloke going for his paper, slipped back , just like I did, landed on the back of his head, lied there in the snow unseen for 45mins, blood everywhere, nearly froze to death, out cold. Saw his neighbour about 4hrs later, apparently he`s in a coma, fractured skull ! All I managed to see when I got out was a big puddle of frozen blood, nearly made me sick !!!
A good few of out staff, me included ,have transferred from other offices and they all say that our 2 managers are the worst theyve ever seen, they literally couldnt give a toss about any of us, as long as the mails cleared. Not even a thankyou at xmas , or after xmas ,for us clearing everything that came in.
PS lapsing resumed this week, and they made us take it Tuesday, as that heavy snow was coming down. To be fair the line manager said he couldnt belive that the dom made us take it out, but that the buck stopped with him. And the 3 lapsing rounds that we do mon/tues, havent got anyone on them next week, despite the very thick ice and heavy snow forecast for Sunday. So it appears they want it taking again !!
Wifes back to work next week (if the schools are in - big doubt with the severe snow forecast sunday night), and im on FF - so theyll be getting told to feckoff , working till my time and doing all I need to . My doms a 1 finger typist ,cant spell, and it takes him about 2 hrs to do an accident report online, so that`ll mean me taking less out !
Double PS - the last accident I had, I got knocked off my bike by a 7.5 tonne lorry coming out of a side street, I had right of way. We did the accident report, so I thought, this was october 2007. When I tried to claim and the solicitors sent me a copy of the accident report, I read it and he`d changed stuff and just not asked my certain questions. For example, was I wearing a helmet? He did ask me and just put NO ,but I was ! Had I been to docs , or hosp ? He put NO, yet id been to both !! At the end he wrote in his opinion I caused the accident as I could have stopped in plenty of time, so I was responsible !
6 months later the driver rings my work asking to speak to me, when the woman who answered said I was out on delivery he said "what ? he still works there ? your 2 managers assured me that he`d be gone by now- he`s always going off sick, and doing dodgy claims etc "! also said if he got 1 more solicitors letter hed get me better next time and I wouldnt be working again coz I wouldnt be able to !! Just to clarify , ive been sick 3 times in 5 years - cancer, slipped disc, ingrowing toenail , and ive claimed once in 17 years, I got savaged by a german shepard and got £500 !!
