Me, "Ok, was it a Special Delivery or Recorded letter, sir?"
Them, "Er...no, but it's important. And I've been waiting for it."
Me, "Well, if it's not either of those things, it'll be difficult to trace."
Them, "But I phoned them, and they said it had been posted..."
Me, "Well, we don't record every letter, but it may possibly be with you soon."
Them, "But I need it, now!"
Me, "I'm sorry but we have approx 10,000 addresses to deliver to every day, with maybe 5 items per house, so it's a lot of mail."
Them, "So you can't trace it then?"
Me, "I'm awfully sorry, but it would be almost impossible if it's been sent through normal mail..but..."
Them, "Ok..." Slam!!! ( The front door slamming shut, guy disappears...)
Me..." Can I deal with anyone else?"
All the other six people waiting, huffing and puffing, surge forward...like a Tidal wave.

Yes it's amazing how important peoples mail is but never important enough to spend the money send it special delivery. Cheapskates

It was special too him but ROYALMAIL don't give a FU( K!. As our O/G poster said he should have posted it SPECIAL DELIVERY as most people think first class it just that but is not any more since :cfo and his in-er circle with their bonuses and pensions at stake!.

Indeed, they do not realise the sheer mass that is letters and packets that RM deals with daily. It still boggles me how a letter can get to one end of the country to the other in a day. It's immense.

I often get customers asking me for their mail on the street - I know we are not meant to hand over items in the street, but I work in very rural areas and know everyone by first name basis etc etc and if I don't have it on me they are like "Is it not in your bag?" I'm like - "well, not this bag, but in 4 bags time" - "4???" they say and I reply "yep, but I've already done 2 others!"

As far as the public are concerned, we get into the office at 9am pick up half a bag of mail, deliver it stand around for an hour or so then home for lunch time.

I had one for an address that did not exist and never has. Thing was the name was uncommon and I still did not recognise them - I think they sent it to the wrong town.
