Management inaction

If a manager was informed that somebody had failed to ensure the security of the mail i.e. somebody had left mail unattended for a period of time, and then failed to act on this information, what action should be taken against the manager concerned due to his deriliction of duty?

Your opening a can of worms here, so can you prove he was informed? Can you prove the mail was left, can you prove he took no action, just because you dont think he has, if he was told formally in front of witnesses he would be nuts not to have took some action, even if it was only asking his boss what to do, that would have covered his arse, just because you have not seen any action doesnt mean he has done nothing, if you are concerned you should call ib but if you cant prove he was told and took no action you may get labelled a trouble maker, especially if the postie concerned learns you went out of the office to drop him in the s**t, we have a keep it in the office policy in the first instance, and if that doesnt work, then our rep takes it outwith
