Initial discussion representation
I was talking to a mate today about him going to an initial discussion about a made up incident (by the manager) with the manager this coming Tuesday. My mate showed me the invitation letter for the intial discussion and the manager states on it that it is a 'one to one' discussion and with no union representation allowed to be present. Is the manager allowed to do this and have no union representation afforded to the postie? I have to say this manager has been losing the plot for the last several months and I think he has shot himself (shotgun style) right in the foot. What does anybody think of this?

Total bollox.no union representation allowed to be present
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Initial discussion representation
Tell him to agree to the meeting only if his union rep is present and to also slap in a B&H complaint as he has all the evidence he needs in writing.

Re: Initial discussion representation
Post a copy of the letter to CWU HQ and ACAS. Tell him you will attend the meeting once you have been properly advised by the Union.

Re: Initial discussion representation
Tell your mate to agree to this one to one meeting but on the condition that it takes place at a time and venue of his own choosing and that the DOM attends unaccompanied and informs no one of the meeting place

Re: Initial discussion representation
Conduct Code: 2 guiding principles, at all stages of the procedure (i.e. excluding counselling) the employee will have the right to be represented by the relevant union representative or be accompanied by a friend of the same work location

Re: Initial discussion representation
It's even more likely to be bent and everything will be purely to impress more Senior managers and to a predetermined outcome . That would be a suspicious issue which a adverse inference could be drawn , should the situation get more serious .POSTMAN wrote:Total bollox.no union representation allowed to be present
