Accelaration To Duty

Hi,
looking for official Royal Mail procedure on accelaration to duty.
I have asked my line manager and DoM, but both just said that I have 15mins to make my own way to my duty.
Do Royal Mail have to provide transport i.e. van / minibus to my duty, they provide a minibus when I have to do a 20min absorded delivery.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Total,total bollox,you have the right to be dropped out by van,whether you absorbe or not,if there isn't one then tough on them,it should be built into your 318.

I have been having this discussion for a while now, no one in our office is driven to first delivery point if you dont get a lift from someone using thier own car then its the bus if your duty is any distance from office.
still need some thing in writing just to put it in Black & white and have no arguement from management.

p.s. have asked for a delivery trolly, still waiting over 6 weeks, told on order.

I cant believe in this day and age a big company like RM makes its staff use a bus for delivery.

Jeeeze,you will need to contact your area rep,also wtf does your 318's state,and where's your rep ffs!

Have also asked for 318 but it was not detailed in any way, just stated start and finish times.
CWU Rep gets same answer and information in 318 as I do.

Once I get my trolly, it will need to be transported to my first delivery point and back to office after delivery.

You're lucky, I've asked about a 318 ( to know exactly what I'm supposed to be prepping on such and such walk at such and such time ), and been told by the DOM assist "318 doesn't exist anymore - not for any duty!"

forgive my stupidity but by 318 do you mean your walk log? ie the folder that lays out exactly what your time scales are, map of delivery ect..

if so then this all sounds fishy to me. we've just had to update all our walk logs, witch are kept on the frames i might add, so why would we do this if they were not in use any more? sounds like they are pulling a fast one but could be wrong as in 8 years i've not heard of a 318

it would be interesting to see what happens at your place if nobody used their private vehicles for delivery. surely that would mean nobody could get out?

On our level some divisions are due acceleration whilst ours is not but to be honest I actually prefer walking round to the bus stop to get transport up to my walk. My starting point is a bit of a bollox to get to and the buses come every half hour which means if I dont get round there at a certain time to be able to finish delivery my manager begins to feel a massive headfeck comin on. Its also doing the job as RM wants you to AND A LOT LESS STRESSFUL as I casually alk round to the bus stop and read the paper on the bus.

A 318 as I understand it is like a walk log, but more detailed, giving start and finish times for primary sorting and the like.....but now, if I understand it correctly, as IPS has gone from 90 mins tops to 2hrs plus in our office, 318s weren't "flexible" enough....so they were ditched

The vast majority in our office (several individual units under one roof) make their own way out, either by car or bus. Those that use the bus get a pass, so it doesn't cost them anything.

318's now only have start times,duty number, Town,Firm,Bike,HCT,Rural delivery it may show when you are on IPS but it will only show a brief discription of what the job does they are not like they use to be, the only thing that does remain unchanged is the bit where it says,AS DIRECTED BY A SENIOR OFFICER it helps make the managers feel that they are important

No way you should use CARS....we dont in our D/O we get,... BIKE ...MINI BUS....LIFT OFF DRIVER...OR GET A TAXI...payed by R/M out of petty cash......

318s are and should be in place in all offices. You are entitled to find out weather your walk is a cycle out or accelerated lift out, if you dont have a 318 then your manager MUST answer this question. At the end of the day all you can do is work your hours if by them not giving you a lift out would take you over your time then cut off to highlight the problem.
